With over three minutes of footage of the 3DS's Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy (triple-check that spelling), this trailer certainly is "special." We leave it up to you to define that word.

Looks like Square Enix realizes the only good thing about their games anymore is the music.

Or maybe just the fans that don't complain about them trying something different.

I like this game, it's like "guitar hero" meets "final fantasy" :D

I hope that this gets some DLC in the future, now that the 3DS can do it. Just not at launch, though. Would be great to get some more songs from FF soundtracks.

@TheOnlyNameAvailable It's the option of future content that I want. When it comes to rhythm games, DLC is pretty much necessary after a while. Look at Rock Band. Well over 3000 songs in total. As long as it's additional songs that were made post-game and not just costumes, weapons and all that rubbish (looking at you, Dissidia & XIII-2) then it's fine. I'd like the game to be as complete as can be when released, but with the possibility for more in future combined with the convenience of only having one cart.

I want this game. Bad. I'm not huge on rhythm games, but I love FF and this game looks like a love letter to the whole series.
Those boss battles look insanely hard though.

My brother and I will be all over this. He played EBA back in the day to death and I regret never having done so as well.

Am I the only one who finds the rhythm sounds a little annoying?

*insert rant about how what I really want from this company is to go back to making games with good, somewhat thought-provoking stories here, followed by an increasingly unintelligible slew of babble as I get wasted; next morning I wake up with a mighty hangover and rewatch this footage*
Aye, but I sh'poshe ah'll get this anyway. Dem tunesh... dem wonderful tunesh. Good mushic.

Sorry for keep repeating myself so much. But I'm a sucker for FF music and this game got me very confused.
I still dont get how the hell you play this game if all the footage is on the upper widescreen and not in the bottom touch screen.
I don't think the game plays with the buttons. That would be weird on those follow the line sequences.

@doppel
Is it all on the top screen? It certainly *looks* like it would be on the bottom screen similar to EBA/Ouendan - you touch the circles, trace the line, etc. Could be wrong I guess, it certainly wasn't really clear from the trailer.
The game looks pretty good actually - I'm tempted, but as I haven't played any of the (main) FF games, I have a feeling much of it won't make much sense. Hope somebody makes some standalone music games for the system - maybe as downloadable titles?

As much as it seems like it'd be really easy to make fun of this game, I think it looks extremely fun, and I've always loved Final Fantasy music far more than I should. Looks like it'll be a day one purchase for me. I'm assuming it basically retells the games story? I hope so.

Looks to me like Square has kind of..... disowned FF14.
