Free Batman: Arkham City skin, unlock code offered as a 'thank you,' new DLC for sale

Rocksteady is giving us all a free Batman Inc.-style Batman skin for Arkham City, as a "thank you all for your incredible support before, during and after the game's release," according to a statement from director Sefton Hill. With that costume, you'll be all set to travel the world and recruit some international Batmen, although, of course, you won't actually be doing that. The costume will be offered as a free download tomorrow on Xbox Live, PC, and PS3.

The world has opened up for us in other ways, however. Along with this announcement, Hill shared a code that will allow you to use any downloadable skin in the campaign without having to complete it first. At the main menu, after choosing your save slot, press left, left, down, down, left, left, right, up, up, down. Then all the costumes you've bought or otherwise acquired will be available. Old school!

If you really feel like buying stuff, you have a couple of options there, as well. The "Arkham Bundle" collects the Nightwing Bundle Pack, Robin Bundle Pack, and the Arkham City Skins Pack for 1200 MSP ($15); there's also a Challenge Map Pack including the new Batcave map, the Joker's Carnival, and the Iceberg Lounge, for 240 MSP ($3). Both are due today.

Except when it's $3 for 1 map because I already had the Joker pre-order DLC and the Penguin map from the collectors edition. I was hoping these were going to be available individually so I didn't have to pay for something I already owned...

great game, probably my choice for GOTY as far as fun and nostalgia, but the DLC for this game just could've been handled SO much better. challenge maps and character skins were not exactly what i was wanting. where's my campaign DLC for Killer Croc, Black Mask or Hush?

thats a good thing, if you know anything about Hush, he is unsettling over all and it shows how much rocksteady cares about the batman brand

Do yourself a favor and read "Hush" then. It's his origin story and has pretty much everyone you'd want to see in a Batman comic.

Love this game, but still think the DLC is way overpriced for what it offers. I did break down and buy the skins pack though.

Holy balls I'm going to go home and start playing as cartoon Batman...it'll be like I'm playing my childhood!

I'm fairly certain the skin is new, but ya, the Iceberg Lounge map was the one that came with the C.E.

I was planning on picking up the skins pack during vacation, but the $15 for all of it (sans new challenge maps, I guess) is probably where I will go so that I can fool around with Robin and Nightwing. Wish the DLC was 'better' as well, but the skins are awesome and given the way the story works I guess they kind of had to just package challenge rooms.

Catwoman felt different though, so hopefully Robin and Nightwing play different as well. I actually found myself doing the challenge rooms a lot more in this game.

For some reason I could download the challenge pack for free (I had already downloaded and paid for all previous DLC). Don't know if this happens to anybody, but this might be a great opportunity to download the pack for free, unless I did something special which got me the pack for free lol...

@Markolie I had the same experience on the PC today. VERY cool of Rocksteady to reward folks for buying DLC piece by piece.

Nice of them to include the code to unlock the skins. If I had the game still, I would get the challenge maps for Iceberg lounge and Joker's Carnival as I already got the rest of the DLC.

Just finished New Game Plus last night and was ready to put this one down to focus on other games. Guess I won't take it out of my PS3 quite yet. Bravo Rocksteady, bravo!

the skins are WAAAAY expensive. I only have the Batman Beyond that i got for free on an offer.

Which skin is that in the image above? Is that a new one or an existing one?

My only complaint about DLC is that it's priced in denominations Microsoft doesnt sell. But that's more a MS issue than Rocksteady.

I was vacillating on whether to buy the Robin or Nightwing packs, but I am more apt to get this bundle since I got AC on sale on Cyber Monday.

shame i'll never play this game again until they fix the disappearing save file issue.

The Batcave looks cool. I hope Rocksteady has taken some time to put cool easter eggs through out it. The promise of a new FREE skin and a code to play as different skins anytime during the game is a nice gesture. I'd like to see more "nice gestures" though, as they could certainly toss a few more skins our way... gratis.

I still can't bring myself to buy the Nightwing DLC. I got the Catwoman and Robin DLC with my copy of AC, and after playing through all Batman, Catwoman and the majority of Robin's challenge maps I have actually managed to become bored with AC... but I'll probably get Nightwing for the Achievements

A single skin doesn't make up for a $7 mute character + one skin for him and two challenge maps. And they have the nerve to throw us another challenge map pack?

I'd buy this in a second if I knew my save game wouldn't be deleted half way through the game again.

"Old school"? No. Old school would be if the skins were already on the disc and you could unlock them with an in game code instead of having to buy them. Perfect example of why I and other people I know, hate the games industry at present.

The dlc was surprisingly well priced for 3 challenge maps I didn't have. I just happened to have 240 ms points in my account too.
