PSN Tuesday: Sonic CD, Trine 2 and Apples to Apples

This week's PSN Update brings with it three highly anticipated downloadable titles: Sonic CD, a game you may have never had the chance to play; Trine 2, a sequel to a game you may have already played; and Apples to Apples, a game your sisters' kids play all the time.

This week's downloadable offerings are joined by a cornucopia of DLC for titles such as Street Fighter III: Third Strike, LittleBigPlanet 2, Gran Turismo 5, Ace Combat: Assault Horizon and many, many more. For the full list of what's new this week, hit up the source link below.

Picked up Trine 2. Was tempted to get on PC, but cop will be easier with friends on the ps3.

@mrantimatter I loved the first Trine and eagerly await Trine 2, but since I pulled my credit card info a few months before the little security fiasco which we won't bring up again here, I stick to PSN cards. Wouldn't you know I have $14.18 in my psn wallet for a $14.99 game. Maybe I'll wait and see if Santa brings me some PSN love for xmas.

Who in their right mind is going to pay 60 for digital NCAA football 12? or 25 for Just Cause 2? Or 32 for LA Noire when it's 17 on Amazon? *sigh* PSN discounts are so useless. Discount the junk, yet leave the popular prices alone; it's supposed to be the other way around sony.

If it wasnt for free multiplayer i swear i would have a 360 S right now. I used to argue that PSN was just as good as Live, but jeez they have fallen behind badly.

I have too many games on PS3 now to just give it up(bought 10 since Black Friday), though only 1 is PS3 exclusive(Uncharted 3). I bought a launch PS3 cuz i was such a PS2 fan, but I'll definitely be waiting come next gen to see if Sony ups their game.

Unless Sony is the publisher, I dont think they have anything to do with the prices on PSN. Of course they leave the "popular prices" alone. Why else do you think MW2 in RETAIL STORES is still $40?

But for me its the other way around, I wont be buying another xbox unless Microsoft brings out more exclusives. Last for me was gears 3, before that was Alan Wake - PS3, its been an exclusive every month or two. Why have a 360 if I get the titles on my PS3, where 80% of my friends are?

Thats kinda how I feel about Xbox too. I have nothing against the system(except Live is way too expensive), but the only exclusive that they have that I love is Forza, but GT is still just as good to me. I was never big on Gears, and Halo kinda died after 3(after how bad Reach was, I wanna see how 4 is handled). My Xbox sits unused at my dads house anymore, and unless they get some new IP's, I probably wont but the next system.

@OGC lol, I would, considering publishers charge up to $110 for games here in Australia. Getting a US PSN was the best thing I ever did.

It's $20-25 dollars on amazon. Point being, digital prices are too high. Y pay for a digital release when you can buy a physical for so much cheaper? Unless you're forced to like the guy from down under said.

And yea, as long as SOny has free multi then its my console of choice, but once thats gone, Im gone. I'd probably get a Vita or something just so i could still experience some Uncharted and MLB The Show with some portable exclusives.

Well they do. Sony charges a high premium to host content. MS doesn't have as high of a premium because XBL costs money to play online. So one of the way Sony makes up money for PSN being free is by taking money from publishers/developers.

Well, I can pay $17 for L.A. Noire on Amazon, pay for shipping, wait for it to ship, and hope to get it in good condition, or I can pay 23.49 or something like that (Playstation Plus) and get the entire game plus most of its DLC in about 11 hours.

My friend and I were just talking about this yesterday. Aside from Alan Wake, whose sale we seem to keep missing, there's nothing really compelling to hold onto the system other than to play really old exclusives like Dead Rising, Mass Effect, and that 1 other serial killer one from sega.

I also don't want to sell it b/c the damn thing will sell at a loss, so it's better just to keep it, even if it's gathering dust.

Dude amazon nearly always sends games in pristine condition if its ordered new. And shipping for a 17 dollar game is not going to cost a lot. If you dont want to pay shipping then throw in another cheap game and get free shipping. Even with the free shipping they mail fast.

Yea i understand. I was the same way when i had a 360 too. Thats why I said until SOny makes you pay for PSN multiplayer, Ill be sticking with them.

I just got Sonic CD on my iphone, but its a great way to remember how awesome Sonic was back in the day. Also all the best SEGA games are there too(If I missed this post before then sorry), but you could get Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, Altered Beat, Eco, and more from the Gen. All on sale if you like.

There's not a site on the internet with the same attention to interesting reading as Joystiq; their reviews in particular have spoiled me. I now expect other reviewers to write as fluidly and eloquently or else I can't make it through the text.

Avoid bionic commando 2, it requires an online connection in order to play.

There's also a bunch of games on sale. Sega's got a sale going on 30% off with an additional 30% for PSN+, also some great PSP titles like Fate/Unlimited Codes, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, and Megaman Maverick Hunter X are 50% off!

I wish Joystiq would point out some of the jems on sale like they used to since they don't want to post the whole article. A "Coles (Cliff's) Notes" version would be great ;)

I have no idea how to play the Apples to Apples single player game, I was so frustrated I actually yelled at my tv because of it.
