Gamefly discounts used games in end-of-year sale

Finish your holiday shopping already? Well, if you've got some spare coin and are looking to treat yourself for getting your shopping done early for once, you may be interested in Gamefly's end of year sale. It's a pretty big sale, guys.

Gamefly's used titles on Xbox 360, DS, 3DS, Wii and PS3 have been discounted through January 3, and any purchase from Gamefly also qualifies for free shipping throughout the duration of the sale. Sheer quantity alone of what's on offer is impressive -- highlights include cheap copies of Mortal Kombat, L.A. Noire, Kirby's Epic Yarn and many, many more.

Or we guess you could just pocket your remaining cash. You've already bought all your gifts, so sit back and relax -- unless you forgot the batteries, in which case we imagine you're running out of the house now to ... yeah, you've already left. Okay then.

Would I be correct in assuming that this sale ends simultaneously when 2011 end?

Deal-related, it's a scant few hours from being null and void but Best Buy has a few decent titles on sale today, most at $4.99. List here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=309038

Virtually all of them are out of stock online, but I successfully nabbed Singularity for Xbox 360 and Dragon Quest IX from my nearest location (which happens to be my employer while I quest for something more pertinent to my career path). Check local availability and you might get a treat.

Piss, virtually all the ones worth considering can't even be selected for store pickup now. Sorry. :( This would be a good opportunity, then, to remind you all to check CheapAssGamer on a regular basis.

For anyone that uses gamefly, How scratched are those discs?

Also, if you buy them used, they will give you the case or just the disc on an envelope?

LA Noire for $12 is not a bad deal, but if the game is too scratched and doesn't come with the case, then I might as well buy from amazon, which is selling a brand new for $17.31 (PS3 version).

@jocaju Barely notice that it's used. Full case, manual and mine have often come with online pass codes.

The disc are in mint condition, and you do get the case with the manual and whatever extras are included.

I haven't had as great luck with Gamefly used game purchases as others here. I have ordered Xbox 360 games that outright don't work (won't play from tray and won't install even though I see no visible scratches). I have also gotten PS3 discs that are chipped on the edges and Gamestop wouldn't even accept them for trade in when I was done with the game. That said, I have also received some games with no problems.

The cases are pristine and usually come with the DLC/online codes as if it was a new purchase. My experience has been very hit and miss so I'm ignoring all Gamefly sales from now on. Hope you have better luck.

Every game I have ever ordered was pristine, and came with working DLC codes (got working online passes for Medal Of Honor, Bulletstorm, Homefront, and Red Faction: Armageddon), and had the original case and manual.

And by the way, DAMN YOU JOYSTIQ...a lot of the games I added to my cart but didn't order before work were sold out when I got home. I still got:

@jocaju Well the Blu-ray disk has the scratch resistant coating so you don't need to worry about it.

If you have not played Bayonetta now it's the time, as well as Dragon Age: Origins, The Orange Box, and Red Dead Redemption, best games of this generation.

Bayonetta was built for 360 and ported over. They patched the PS3 version so you can do a full install of the game to the HDD, but the 360 version is still the way to go.

I recommend Splinter Cell Conviction at 12.99 for those who haven't played it...

Just grabbed Two Worlds 2 and Dungeon Siege 3. Only paid 20 bucks and free shipping. Also, for those who have never ordered used from Gamefly, they are phenomenal. All of my discs have been in near-new condition and the manuals and cases are new. I highly recommend checking their sales regularly. Thanks for the heads-up Joystiq!

Sorry Gamefly, Gamestop's having a member's only buy 2 get 1 sale on Friday, so no deal. What? No I'm not actually going to gamestop, just ordering online. Takes me hours just to tell them I don't want to pre-order anything.

I order virtually no used games online but am under the impression that the Gamefly purchases are almost universally in excellent condition while Gamestop purchases fluctuate wildly. Thoughts?

I stopped using Gamefly a few months back, but had a $5 credit that was about to expire. I ended up picking up LA Noire for about $7.

just picked up Dragon Age 2... was waitin for a good sale. So i used my $5 coupon. $8.64 total! WOO!

Got LA Noire today for $12 and Dead Space 2 earlier this year for less than 10. I no longer subscribe to their service, but i still love shopping there for used games.

I know David Hinkle isn't exactly known for being witty or humorous, but come on man..... that was just painful.
