You'll excuse our baffled aghast, but we just saw Facebook's most played games of 2011 list and were mesmerized by this list of stuff we've never heard of. Also, we're surprised that Disney-owned Playdom sits at the top of the list with Gardens of Time, while Zynga's myriad "Ville" offerings, "... with Friends" games, Empires & Allies, and Adventure World are instead scattered throughout the bottom nine.
EA's The Sims Social edges out Zynga as well for the number two spot, though neither Playdom nor EA can compare to Zynga's four entires on the top 10. According to Facebook, the list is put together by "looking at the top games on Facebook with more than 100,000 monthly active users and giving priority to those games with the highest user satisfaction scores."

I guess Zygna's Ville games weren't unique enough to keep people interested. Oh, who am I kidding? There was no originality to them in the first place.

Is "Playdom" a portmanteau of "playing" and "boredom"? That would be really clever since people usually play this type of thing when they're bored at work (or so I hear).

Well, when user satisfaction came into play, of course Zynga games weren't going to top the list. Doesn't mean they're not raking it in though. It's a depressing thought, but doesn't affect me, as I've probably blocked most of them from sending requests, so can pretend Zynga doesn't exist on my Facebook.

Not unexpected at all for me. I played the games on FB for awhile. My hatred of both FB and their dippy stupid games cannot be properly communicated. I no longer play anything there ever. I tried, but I just can't see the appeal of hours of clicking to accomplish nothing. I love strategy games like empire earth, but FB has nothing but crap, and always neighbor nonsense. I prefer good old console or PC, where I am not forced into neighbor nonsense, and not restricted on play time by dippy energy, etc.
