In the same tweet, GSC said it "will not be releasing any official news until around mid January," which suggests the studio will still be running in some capacity at least until then. GSC was developing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, and we can only hope for some good news in January from the studio.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. devs: 'There is cause for hope,' more news in January

GSC Game World, developer of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, was rumored to have shut down earlier this month, a move that would have affected roughly 45 employees. However, GSC still appears to be alive and kicking wiggling its legs slightly, announcing via Twitter that "there is cause for hope!"

@shankythestabber Does it look any good? I was going to get it but looking at the vids online the game visually looks bad.

There are mods available that make it look pretty decent. I don't know if it's the best one, but in one of the videos they were showing off one called "LURK."

I was going to get it on Steam, but I don't know. It looks like there's a whole lot of inventory management going on that would bug me.

Buy it. Really. Even if it turns out to not be your cup of tea, you'll be able to see why so many people were captivated by the vibe of the games. The first is still my favorite.

I gotta hand it to GSC, I don't think I've ever seen a studio keep fighting to stay alive so long after announcements of its purported death. Must be that hard-bitten Ukranian stoicism.
Best of luck to ya, gents.

Really sad, I hope they turn it around. STALKER is one series I wanted to truly succeed, just keep getting better, and inspire other dev teams.
They've been working on STALKER 2 for a while, I imagine there is too much work put in to simply trash. I think at the very least, it will be salvaged.

Yeah, I really hope they are able to secure a publishing deal with someone for the consoles. I was really looking forward to trying the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise, seems like my kind of game. If not, I'll just have a buy a gaming rig and playing the original ones with the Complete mods installed. I don't see why someone without a post-apocalyptic franchise like EA or Ubi wouldn't publish a game like this since financial issues for development shouldn't be the problem. If it came down to needing to purchase the IP/dev team I would hope someone like 4A Games, CD Projekt or Crytek would step in. Or even someone like Bethesda or Valve.
