Battle Duty: Modern Field 3 takes copyright infringement to new heights

Reading a headline like that, one might assume that such a ridiculous thing doesn't exist and is simply a joke. While we admit we enjoy the occasional bit of tomfoolery here, we assure you this is a real thing – Battle Duty: Modern Field 3 is an actual game available right now on the App Store.

It'll only cost you a buck to snag Imba Entertainment's satirical shooter. You'll need iOS 3.2 or higher on your iDevice to play it; gameplay consists of tapping soldier dudes to kill them. You can see what we mean in the trailer above.

Exactly! Occasionally I hear that one annoying guy (kid, etc.) but it really isn't as bad as people think on cod.

And this is why I don't take iOS and Android gaming seriously. There is absolutely no quality control going on with those devices.

Once Apple and Google start making their own games, then they'll understand. (I'm excluding Microsoft and WP7 because they actually develop/publish their own games)

If you're going to call "copyright infringement" please get it right. This is more trademark infringement. If even that. Copying an idea isn't against the law. Unless you copy the exact same thing (generally).

Arguably it's going beyond copying an idea (let's be honest, no ideas are really copied in this). It's the use of the art assets and distinct imagery used by those games in an attempt to profit off of it that raises questions. I'm obviously not in any way super knowledgeable on these things, but I would think that using actual game screenshots as your background is some kind of violation.

Hmm i know that satire as such is a way to avoid legal battles when mocking a specific product, business, or person. But selling a game using images and assets from said products is actually illegal. I don't expect this to be sold for too much longer.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is better than either of those two games.

So basically add a few quick time events and a prick from the suburbs of Chicago calling you an "assdouche" in your headset and you have the feel of your typical modern warfare shooter.....
