We saw the new Gunzerker class in the Borderlands 2 teaser trailer released way back in August, and Gearbox has shared a little more information about just how the gun-wielding brute will work. The class is a dual-wielder of weapons, but can only bring out two guns for a limited amount of time, which means you'll have to make tough decisions about which guns to pull out and when. Combine an electric machine gun with a flaming shotgun to drop shields and do flame damage? Sure, why not!
There are three skill trees in the class: One has skills like "Yippe Ki Yay," which extend your berzerk mode when you make a kill. The second is more of a tank tree, with abilities that boost your heath and offer a taunt to drive enemies to attack you (instead of weaker teammates). Finally, there's a tree called "Gun Lust" that seems targeted more towards solo play, with vampiric attacks and special skills available, like one that grants more damage to the last bullet in a clip, or another that provides extra shots with no ammo cost.
Gearbox has also confirmed that the Siren class will return to the game, but says it won't necessarily be a phasewalker like last time. Instead, the gameplay will be "very, very different and very, very new," according to lead writer Anthony Burch. That sounds ... ominous, no? Maybe she'll take a tip from the Dragonborn and have some singing attacks.

random note: in the PAX demo, there was a skill called 'Sexual Tyrannosaurus'. I've no idea what it does, but damn if I didn't get curious.
The Siren was in the demo as well, but no details. She looks pretty neat though.

I missed my siren. My brother and others would say I'm a noob since she was the best but hey it's not my fault I ended up picking the best one without even knowing. I just hope they don't make the siren weak just because she was really strong in the first.

I'm extremely excited for this game. I don't even know how many hours I put in to the first one. The game (so Amazon has said) comes out on June 30th, which is the day after my birthday, so I'm sure as hell getting it.

Even if they change the Siren, I hope she'll still be the best class overall.
Her skills in Borderlands made the game super easy after a certain point.

Wait a gun that deals fire damage AND drops shields? Am I reading that right in context?
I've been following the Borderlands franchise long before the art style change. This one's a day one buy.

@ColorblindMonk No he is saying that by dual wielding weapons you can have one to take off their shields and ones just to light them on fire and putting them together makes for a beastly combs.

Boy, did this game drop off the face of the planet. I enjoyed the first, didn't fall head over heels for it, and I'll give this one a shot, but I forgot of this one's existence.

my number one for next year (2k you better be listening) is bioshock infinite and borderlands 2 is second. though I'll probably still be playing Skyrim.

Let's see if the other 2 classes are something different as well (you'd think so).

The second skill tree being described is called "Come at Me, Bro".
Yes, that's the name of the second tree...
And yes that shit is amazing!

I was the Siren in my group during the playthrough and I always had the feeling I wasn't playing her quite right...at one point I went back and re-specced toward guns instead but didn't play much under that spec. Will probably try something else for this one

As much fun as the Gunzerker sounds, I'd like them to dive into the other characters a bit more. I'm hoping they have a beefed-up Sniper.

It's funny, when I tried playing the Siren class... it seemed too weak. I still think the Soldier was/is the best... with the turret, you could plant it while running for cover or getting out of there... it's was like doubling your firepower... Maybe I'll give Siren another shot if I start again...

Personally, I enjoy the soldier the most out of all other classes. First, yes. The Scorpio turret is in fact amazing and a life-saver at times. But then comes the bigger clips to not just my own weapons, but to my groups. And then my favorite of all: ammo regeneration. There was nothing more annoying than running out of rounds for my favorite gun in the heat of battle. (I realize Borderlands does give plenty of ammo, but when you're facing (a) tough enemy(s) every round counts. But to each their own.
