I know right? You're supposed to release a demo before the game comes out so people will buy it day 1. Releasing a demo months after the game is out is stupid because then you have to compete with other games. And we're talking about some other AAA games in the passed 2 months...BF3, MW3, Skyrim...I mean if you haven't got GoW for Christmas then you're probably not getting it any time soon either.

you know what they should do is release demos for games that are completely different from what the game actually is. for example, they should release a demo for the "Black Eyed Peas Experience" but instead of making it completely stupid and lame like the very concept of that "game" is, they should make it a savage God of War clone where you go around slaughtering the other Top 10 artists, paving the way for the ultimate opening to the "Black Eyed Peas Experience" video game, the stars of which might only ever truly be considered "talented" if they had no other musical acts to compete with.

Balls. Another stupid gold thing to make me regret canceling my gold membership. I was irritated to learn that you can't even message friends when you're silver, but this just blows. Balls.

Except that live is ridiculously better than the PSN interface, gold doesn't really cost that much at all, and saying that 360 games should be cheaper is ridiculous. PSN sucks. My brother finally got back on the bandwagon with a console for his kids got a 360, because of Kinect, and the ease of use for lil youngans is so far beyond PS3 it's silly.
Not to mention the fact that the update situation with PS3 is inexcusable. I wanted to rent a movie the other night and I had to sit through 40 minutes of updates. It's beyond pathetic.

@MarkezJM - I agree 100% about the update situation.
I actually paid more to rent a movie on Zune recently that I would've to rent it on the PSN Video Store (the one I wanted to watch was one of their 99 cent rentals at the time) solely because I knew I hadn't applied the most recent software update and didn't want to sit through the update process.

The new XBOX dashboard is a little clunky, but you don't have to use it most of the timel. When the 360 turns on, whatever you have in the disc tray is already highlighted, and you just have to press down once to get to quickplay and play whatever else you're interested in. You rarely ever need to mess around with the "hubs"

The first paragraph should ready as follows:
"Try before you buy. It's a concept we're entirely behind, and in modern gaming, it's not out of the ordinary for a demo to NEVER be released"
Oh how I miss the good ol' days when demo's were available on almost all games.

So that's what I'm downloading...
When I started up GoW3, the game said that there was new content called "Shipwreck," but no explanation as to what it was. Darn, I was hoping it was a free extra stage or something.

Fair enough, Space, that was hyperbole on my part. My bad. It's a clean interface and I do in fact like it. I still think it pales in comparison to what MS has accomplished with Live.

Comparing XMB to to XBL? Maybe PSN to XBL?
XBL Free: Offline gaming only. Bunch of "upgrade to Gold" ads. late demos. no streaming services. Microsoft screwing people over as usual.
PSN: Online gaming. text chat. voice chat. picture messaging. free use of streaming services. Sony appealing to gamers with common sense.
PSN w/ PlayStation Plus: Same as regular PSN, but with cloud storage for game saves. automatic updates. automatic downloads. early access to demos. beta invites. FREE games. FREE themes. Deep discounts on select games and DLC. Game trials.
XBL Gold: Cross game chat. You pay Microsoft to use your Xbox.
I would have sold my 360 long ago, but I keep getting 12 month XBL cards for Christmas. I prefer PSN to XBL, it's a much better service in my opinion, mostly because it's free, and if you do pay, you get a lot of awesome things. (INB4 run-on sentence!)
XMB vs. Xbox Dashboard?
XMB: Simple and effective.
Xbox Dashboard: Each update looks better than the previous, but things get more complicated and the interface becomes less effective. ADS, ADS, AND MORE ADS. You start to forget this is a paid service. I'm afraid to see what the next Dashboard will look like. Will we have to watch 30 sec. commercials before we can play Forza 5?
/end rant

While you're complaints about XBL are totally valid, I still have a far better experience playing 360 games online than I do PS3 games. The party/chat/messaging system, as well as the painless, quick updates, compared to the PS3's minimal communication options and slower, often needlessly complex updates, keep me far away from my PS3 when I want to play a game online. I hate paying $40 a year for a service with ads as much as the next guy, but compared to the alternative? I'll take it.

You made the most sense. We play games, that should be the focus. Not cross game chat. I dislike both Sony and MS, but I prefer PSN for the nonexistence of annoying ads and it's free access. But you know it's only like that because Sony had to rush in order to catch up to MS, otherwise Sony would be screwing everybody over just as much if not more so like usual.

Party chat has a huge impact on how I play multiplayer games. It allows me to jump into a room with my friends, talk about what game we want to play next, and then easily send and receive invites to said games. It allows us to communicate in game and work as a team without hearing the occasional 6 year old throw out racial slurs. It makes playing games online a vastly better experience.

I used party chat. It took me a half-hour into get into a game and play for that exact reason. Everyone would shut up and come to a decision of what exactly they wanted to play rather than just calling me on a cell phone when they came to a decision and were ready to play. I've lost hours of my lifetime waiting and waiting...... and waiting. Party chat is old news. Its not worth $60/year.

Yeah, leave it to Microsoft to alienate their own customers. Because someone doesn't want to pay Microsoft their yearly fee every year, they get the shaft when it comes to demo's. Its not good enough that Microsoft charges them to use Netflix, Hulu, ESPN (that they charged $10 more per year for, and every other movie service, they want to charge you to play a demo. That's like renting out a demo that's prohibited by law. Its pay to play. I have no need to play games online with my 360 as I get pretty much the same services online through PlayStation Network for free. Does it run any better on Xbox Live than it does on PlayStation Network? ABSOLUTELY NOT! Its just Microsoft marketing that suckers everyone into thinking it really is.

Sony also gives early access demos and game trials to PSN+ subscribers. It's idiotic to reserve advertising to customers who pay a premium instead of letting everyone have access and thus expand your potential market, but you can't knock Microsoft for doing it and then pretend that Sony doesn't.
