Man, when the Nintendo curse hits, it hits HARD.

Disclaimer:

The curse is in reference to companies doing stellar in conjunction with the Big N, and then flaming out when going an independant route. This is no way the fault of Nintendo or the Nintendo family of products.

End Disclamer

And there's nothing wrong with receiving a little help from the big boss. Some indie devs let their pride get to them.

Ahh yes, the infamous Nintendo curse. Is that the one responsible for the huge success of all those former Nintendo exclusive franchises on the original PlayStation?

Rare and SK are exceptions when it comes to companies who left Nintendo exclusivity or near exclusivity. The difference is, Nintendo could have retained both of them if they had chosen to but clearly they felt neither were worth it.

I thought Captain America was pretty good, which was made by the Punch-Out Wii developer.

Well, by golly, it is true: GTA and Gears shouldn't be compared. That's unfair.

However I feel SK should be given a second chance. I guess they kind of look like the underdogs here, especially when sharing the same space with Epic.

Will this be the nail in the coffin? The only reason I can guess that SK is even still in business (especially after tanking 2 games in a row and laying off most of their staff) is that Denis Dyack has some especially scandalous pictures of the Prime Minister or something. If only the heads of Bizarre, Ensemble, Black Rock, Avalanche, and pretty much every THQ studio except Volition had the same sort of blackmail potential, the industry wouldn't be in the state it is in now.

Split/Second was a perfect game that just came out on the wrong day. Poor bastards.

I'd like to buy a sampling of some of the drugs involved when someone decided Silicon Knights would be a good fit for King's Quest.

I just want Too Human 2... or 2 Human... or Too Human, Too. I don't care what they call it, i spent more time on that game than nearly every other Xbox game I have!

FFS, get real. I enjoyed the hell out of Too Human, and I'm old enough that I played Atari Pong prior to the 2600, and every gaming system that followed. My gamercard is definately intact, and non revokable.

Personally I wish developers would try to mix things up more in game mechanics, however with the price of creating games now a days, I guess it's too risky.

I would love to see a Too Human 2.

Every time I see "Silicon Knights" not immediately followed by "is making Eternal Darkness 2", I just skip to the next article.

@mikesanto You know, I got Too Human signed by the team (as I live where SK is stationed), but I almost feel like burning it.

Some of the puzzles in Eternal Darkness reminded me of adventure games like King's Quest, I guess. But I'm as relieved as anybody that whatever they were planning on doing with that series didn't have the chance to flop.

What really saddens me about this whole thing is that Eternal Darkness is still in limbo, and not likely to ever get out of limbo.
