NintendoWare Weekly: VVVVVV, Bionic Commando

Two games hit the eShop today, and they both seem worthwhile! Terry Cavanagh's devious puzzle platformer, VVVVVV, is now playable on the go, courtesy of Nicalis. Bionic Commando is also made portable, courtesy of ... the Game Boy version Capcom made years ago.

On DSiWare you can get Cake Ninja, though you'd probably hate yourself for buying such an outright Fruit Ninja clone. Get it only if you're lacking a conscience, much like its developers.

WiiWare

Carmen Sandiego Adventures in Math: The Big Ben Burglary (The Learning Company, 1-6 players, 600 Wii Points): Solve math puzzles to follow the trail of the stolen Big Ben.

3DS eShop

VVVVVV (Nicalis, 1 player, $7.99): Captain Viridian and his crew are trapped in a series of abstract mazes, with only Viridian's gravity-flipping power to aid in their escape.
Bionic Commando (Game Boy) (Capcom, 1 player, $3.99): Rad Spencer moves into monochrome, in a game based on the NES adventure (but with the futuristic Doriaze Army instead of Nazi stand-ins.)

DSiWare

Cake Ninja (Cypronia, 1-2 players, $4.99/500 DSi Points): Imagine Fruit Ninja, but with cake, and a more sexist premise. This is exactly that.
Slingo Supreme (Magellan Interactive, 1 player, $7.99/800 DSi Points): The slot/bingo puzzle game, with daily challenges, new powerups, and a "supreme" mode that lets you build levels.

Sigh... Is that really the best they can come up with for the wii? Is another VC game EVER coming?

I don't think enough people care at this point. Most of the good games are already up on VC anyway, and most of the games you think you wanted probably aren't as great as you remember them to be. The only one anybody really is still clamoring for is Earthbound and most people have already given up hope on that one anyway. At the very least, forget the Wii, I'd turn your hopes to 3DS for this stuff or just hit up PC, XBL, or PSN for the new wave of retro inspired games.

There are still PLENTY of Neo Geo games I would love to see and at least 4 TG16 that I would be VERY, VERY happy to see. And only 21 N64 games? Come on. No, I'm sorry, there is still PLENTY of stuff out there that could be released, but it's rather obvious, sadly, that you are right about the interest in it.

I meant the SNES Yoshi's Island. I have the GBA cart AND the 3DS ambassador's copy, but I want to play this on my tv.

rofl That was great, but I could send the same thing with Earthbound. You should've posted a link to the GC's GBA player since I said I have the GBA cart.

Irregardless I've given up hope on VC. Between the non-existant transferability (?) between consoles, games increasing in price instead of decreasing, and the lack of releases I am hating it, if I weren't hoping for Oracle of Seasons/Ages to drop soon I honestly wouldn't bother at all. Even then I probably won't get it, since it was advertised with special GBA only features that almost certainly won't be available.

I've seen you post this several times but never saw you get a response. That sucks, but Joystiq ain't the best place to collect people for your friends list buddy, especially for Nintendo platforms. That's why you haven't gotten a response yet. Try www.friendcodes.com, that works for the AAA games like Brawl, Pokemon, and Mario Kart. Or try GoNintendo, you might get lucky there.

And honestly, I think the real problem here is that A) you can't tweak your personal profile to add things like gamertags and B) there's no PM system so it's not the greatest place to make online friends. Unfortunate.
