Hopefully this won't be another Super Meat Boy incident. That was another indie game I was really looking forward too on the Wii that never made it.

Yea, it's kind of a shame. The game kept growing and growing beyond the original scope, and they couldn't compress it enough to fit within NIntendo's restrictions for WiiWare. Nor could they get a publisher to do a retail version of it.

That said, I use a USB adapter to play it with a Classic Controller Pro on PC. :)

@NaeemTHM If Isaac doesn't make it, it won't be for the same reasons as Meat Boy. Meat Boy was too big for WiiWare's file size restrictions, but the 3DS restrictions are much higher. Actually, I don't even know if the eShop HAS size restrictions.

Why can't this hit XBLA? It's no worse than GTA4 or Saints Row 3. This isn't Australia...

I believe McMillen has said that he doesn't want to work with Microsoft again. Things just didn't go too smoothly with Super Meat Boy.

Two reasons being McMillen is still really pissed off about how poorly XBLA treats indie developers, and Xbox360 doesn't support Flash based games. (Which Binding is)

Its cool that this is a Zelda clone. Maybe if more games like this come out Nintendo will realize there is a market for Zeldas other then Ocarina style, and that they are completely ignoring this market for some reason.

@TwEE Zelda clone? It certain has some art and layout inspiration from Zelda, but it's much more of a distinct Roguelike / Smash TV style mashup.

I hope to see it on platforms with dual sticks. Played it on PC with it that way and it's way awesome

I do see the Smash Tv now that you mention it.

Um what? It's WAY more like Zelda. Keys, Bombs, money, even the shop areas are similar in layout to Zelda. Plus boss fights at the end of every stage/dungeon. The only real differences is Binding has no puzzles and the items you get aren't crucial for defeating bosses.

The ONLY similarity it has with Smash TV is the room structure/survivalist nature. Otherwise there is no high score system in place, no "waves" of enemies. Not to mention Binding has a similar heart structure to Zelda whereas with Smash TV you die in one hit.

Why the 3ds? Does the game make good use of 3d effects or something?

Seems like it would be a nice PSN/XBLA/PSV game to me.

Because the 3DS actually has Flash support apparently, from what I understand. Since Isaac is a Flash game, it'd be an easy port over, as they'd just need to remap controls and add the capability to use the second analog stick, since it's basically a twin stick shooter already.

Will the 3DS version be dogged by poor performance, have a low framerate and not be that good?

But Nintendo I would like a new 2D Zelda. That'd make me buy a 3DS in a heartbeat.

I think he's taking a shot at the current version of the game. I disagree with the not being good part, but as a Flash game, it's frame rate and general performance can be really sketchy at times. Especially in the later floors when you have a ton of guys in one room at a time.

love it! I want it on the go. Makes a great quick burst portible title.
Nintendo not frowning on their take on classic Zelda is a surprise too!

Love to see this as a portable title. It'd be perfect for it, really. Just as long as they had a quick save/suspend option.. I've had some good 2 hr runs on that game and still not beat it. Having it in 3D would be kind of a nice touch too. Who doesn't want to see a screaming aborted fetus blow up right in to your face?

I'll take a guess and say it's Nicalis, the team who ported Cave Story and VVVVVV.

Maybe if this does somehow manage to get on the EShop (religious themes, etc. could really hurt it's chances), we could get Super Meat Boy as a cartridge-based game! *Sigh* If only...

Why not? They had Eternal Darkness on the GameCube, and Mad World on the Wii. Unless you get "offended" by Isaac's religious overtones (which I think you should just get over yourself) I think the only problem is file restrictions. The controls on the 3ds are fine as is without the second stick (stick to move, face buttons to shoot).

It's about a young gender confused boy tormented by his religious mother who wants to sacrifice him to Jesus. But he escapes into the basement... where all the fetuses of his aborted siblings are waiting to get him.

Your only weapons are your tears, unless you make a deal with Satan.

You think we're going to see that on a 3DS?

Hell yes, one of the best indie games out there. I've spent 30+ hours on it on Steam, and I would love to take it with me everywhere. Also maybe in 3D.
