For most Battlefield 3 players, the huge number of weapon-mounted accessories are little more than filler between the obvious handful of choices that offer the best, effective results. The game's core gameplay designer, Alan Kertz, has picked up on that state and taken to Reddit to solicit advice for tweaking BF3's various gun augmentations.
"I'm not promising this will go live, and I'm not promising there will be an update, I'm looking for feedback and a discussion," Kurtz writes, carefully requesting feedback while trying not to overpromise. He says that the goal in said request is to "focus on improving the under performing and under used attachments," but also to identify how to nerf the most powerful attachments. Interested in sounding off? Head over to the Reddit thread and get passionate.

Ugh, I enjoy /v/'s community more than Reddit, as Reddit seems to be infested with children who blurt their uneducated opinions. Not to say every kid is like that, but a good majority of them are.

@Dionkey I love /v/, I've been on it every day for years. But it's filled with trolling and a hatred for nearly everything. Not only that, but it's much harder to moderate a legitimate discussion on, especially when it would splinter into multiple threads.
Besides, as much as /v/ would hate to admit it, there's plenty of overlap between the two.

The last time I played this game, I had 0 kills and 3 deaths. but I was the MVP of the match with just over 8000 points. That doesn't seem right to me. I mean, sure I was capturing positions and repairing and disabling vehicles but what about my friends that were killing everyone around me? They didn't have nearly as many points.

Well BF3 doesn't have to be played like every other shooter. You can rock the socks off some m-coms and get only assists and suppression assists throughout a game and still come out on top.
And i personally would not count this as a game fault, just a means for those who are focused on winning the game to do so and still have a very high score.

@eat it That's because the goal of Battlefield is to play for the objective, not to rack up a bunch of kills. Sure, getting kills is important, but teamwork is key in this game. Anyone can get a kill by themselves, but to capture a flag or plant and defend a bomb, it's pretty hard to do that yourself. That's why you get more points for objectives than kills.

So because you ran around capping flags, doing objectives and perhaps handing out ammo/rez'/health whilst killing/ disabling high priority targets and was credit to team ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqyIHtYcCh0&feature=player_detailpage#t=70s ) then you want less points for actually being useful instead of topping kills/dps charts?
What a weird person you are, its nice to be rewarded for being USEFUL for once tbh.

All I did was run back and forth and lay down a bunch of time and maybe shoot a few rockets in between.
Should I really end up with thousands more points than the people actually killing the enemies? Which is harder? running and laying down or aiming and shooting?
and if they are really doing a good job. they kill the enemies before they get to the positions an get even less points for not having a defensive kill or an offensive kill. it seems a little bizarre

The point is you were accomplishing the mission.
I understand your frustration though. In a lot of team sports and games there is a strange credit given to players who may or may not have had everything to do with the result of a game.
In Hockey, when a game ends with one team having a score of 0, the goalie is said to have "Shut out the other team" and stats are even tracked for how many times a goalie has gotten a shut out, even if the defenders and forwards were doing most of the work keeping the puck away from the goalie.
In Baseball, a pitcher bears the burden of having to pitch a "No Hitter". Even if he could pitch 27 pitches and get 27 pop-flies all the left field, the player in left field gets no credit for catching, but the pitcher gets all the credit for a no hitter.
In Football, the quarterback is one who will bear the brunt of all reaction. The Quarterback threw the interception, the quarterback got sacked.
So really you did the right thing, you were the quarterback, goalie, or pitcher of your Battlefield team. everyone else was playing defense/offense, for you too accomplish the teams objective, winning.

Thats the type of match you were playing. You played the way that was meant to be played and got more points for it.
Thats the reason I play conquest and rush more than deathmatch. I do not ever top the kill charts in a deathmatch but I have gotten several MVP ribbons on conquest and rush matches.

@eat it This is why Battlefield will always be my #1 FPS. Teamplay is rewarded always. What you did is what many players from other shooters fail to understand, you helped the team win, kills only matter in Team Deathmatch. Which plays just like COD 4 minus kill streaks.
Kills are meaningless when it comes to completing the objective, it's not about having the best K/D ratio.

Those people sitting around worrying about racking up kills, in some cases they probably do less for your team than you realize. Kills are important, though just because you're the one not getting them doesn't mean you aren't doing your job right. It's more of a necessity than anything. In terms of priority worrying about getting kills should be lower on the list. Sure, shoot anything in your way, but don't concern yourself with low kill numbers. To me it speaks more to the game strengths, and less about any broken system.

Look at it this way, BF3 is supposed to be a more "realistic" shooter. In the real military we go after our objective. Yea, some of the real F'ed up ones go for kills, but our mission is to take or destroy the objective, not to kill everyone thats in the area.

Welcome to OBJECTIVE BASED GAMES..
Seriously, why does this need to be explained to you? If you're not playing TDM you're playing one of the objective games.
TDM's purpose is killing, SND's purpose is planting bombs and Conquest is capturing bases. Why shouldn't you get more points for doing the objectives?

At least you didn't cause your team to lose. Dying 30 times in a COD would've done it really easily.
A game that rewards completing the objectives rather than the k/d ratio...go figure. I feel embarrassed having not played a single minute of BF3 yet. Too busy with Skyrim and other titles.

In Battlefield the goal is to do the objective. Guns are just tools for getting that job done.
You may never need to kill anyone.

Have they still not fixed the tactical light on Xbox 360? I was under the impression the most recent patch fixed it, but if it did fix it then they still need to fix it again.

The list of changes seems reasonable. I try to be the guy who uses everything in the game but I constantly see the same kits, the same guns and the same tactics used again and again. It would be great to see people using different attachments instead of the constant patterns we see now.
Can we please get a fixed button for the bipod? We need that more than anything else in terms of features.

They disappear twenty secs after you die. Rather pointless for an engineer to carry them now. What's he supposed to do? Hope he can plant all his mines and then go hide in some remote part of the map? lol

I hope they take feedback per platform.
I don't fancy seeing another BC2 thing where PC weapons were nerfed due to console feedback, as both platforms play differently.

They need to buff the stinger back up to how they were originally. Since it's already difficult to shoot down an aircraft with a stinger, one hit or at the most two on an aircraft should take it down. Last night I hit a helicopter at least 4 times and it was barely smoking.

It has been buffed. It does 50% damage now. It was smoking because it probably had an engineer in it.

I like most of the attachments in certain situations on different guns. I think they all suit their purpose. I can't think of any I really do not use at some point or another. I would like to choose which unlocks I get first though. I do not want a 4x zoom scope on my sub machine gun before I unlock the red dot for instance.
