In all fairness, a lot of us were cautious after Twilight Princess (keep it in your pants, TP lovers; not in the mood for a debate over its merits). However, Skyward Sword is indeed phenomenal and worthy of multiple purchases.

Interesting. Uncharted 3 is the top requested game for PS3, yet it doesn't make the top 10 list. This means that either most PS3 owners buy their games or there are not a lot of requests for PS3 games from Gamefly.

Also, I wonder how 3DS and DS carts work. Would they clear the save file data before sending to another person or do you get to see someone's progress?

That top ten list is for multiplatform games. It isn't an overall top 10.

You can play off old saves on DS/3DS. Or just delete a save and start fresh. When I did my trial at Gamefly I saw a lot of unimpressive saves.

many games that require online passes offer a 3-5 day trial period which is a one time use linked to your psn/xbl account

That's what I figure, people renting Skyrim are probably new to Elder Scrolls and just want to see if it's worth the hype. Renting skyrim isn't very cost efficient if you plan to play the game pretty thoroughly.

Wow, BF3 is #4, even though EA makes you buy a $10 online pass when you rent the game? That's surprising.

I'm curious how many renters actually do that. I bet a lot get the disc and then realize that fee exists and stick to the single player before shipping it back.

It could be a win for EA. Force them into the pass for the meat of the game, and after they've paid for that they feel a need to justify the pass purchase - thus leading to BF3 buys, map pack buys, etc.

Yeah I'm curious about those numbers too. I could see that working for most games, but a game like BF3, I'd think 80% of people don't really care much about the campaign, they just want to play multiplayer or even coop.

I even wanted some of my friends to rent it to try out BF3, cause they're obsessed with MW3 on the console. But no way they ever will if an extra $10 fee is involved. You should at least get that $10 back if you buy the full game!!

@Dizazter well techniclly if you buy the pass it is tied to your gamertag or ID so if you buy full game you dont have to buy pass again as you still have it...........savy

@Protege420

Well you're referring to buying the game used, well then yes, you wouldn't have to buy the pass again.

But if you buy the game new, you just screwed yourself out of $10 by renting before buying it new.

And now EA just encouraged you to buy used and/or punished you for buying new. Smart EA, reeeal smart.

Well crap dude, you're somewhat right! EA does offer a trial, only 48 hours, but still, that's something.

Maybe I'll get my friends to try BF3 after all.

Who would rent BF3? You can't play MP without the pass.

A friend of mine recently wanted to borrow it to see if he and his friends should buy it, I told him of the pass and now he just went back to MW3. EA's smart, smart tactics to get new consumers are outstanding.

Believe it or not there are a lot of people that don't care about online MP. I rented BF3 for the 360 from GF knowing about the pass. I finished the campaign and had it back in the mail the day after I received it. Also, for those that don't know, when you buy a used game from GF they send you the original case with everything in it -- including any online pass codes.

Personally, I've never had a problem with Gamefly -- but rather with the damned postal service for sending/shipping titles late. Sure, I've had some "rental skips", but that was usually because a requested title high on my list was low in quantity of rent-able software.

Hell, if I was going to be spiteful of anything, it would be myself for not coming up with a "Gamefly" service prior to them!

I can't even get them to send me games that are 6+ months old. Gamefly sucks. I drop a game in the mail and 8 business days later I get an email "we received your game!" - then business days later "we've shipped your next game" - then it takes 3-4 days for the next game to come. Basically when you drop a game off in the box, it takes 2 weeks to get the next game.

They always send me random games, even though I have games higher up on my Q that are "available now" or "high availability".

Gamefly is such a terrible service that when you log in to cancel your account, they right then and there, give you the option to get one month free.

I know this because I just did this today. So yeah...Gamefly gets 1 more month to convince me that their service is anything but abysmal.

Remove all games from your queue except for the one you want shipped. That's the secret. As for the rest, I do feel for you. I'm lucky to live in Tampa and I get next day turnaround from them pretty much exactly the same as Netflix.
