Indie Royale unveils four fancy games in the New Year's Bundle
23
Indie Royale has lifted the beautiful silver lid from its New Year's Bundle games -- Nuclear Dawn, Fractal, Max & the Magic Marker and Super Crossfire, the last of which is marked as an Indie Royale exclusive. The New Year's Bundle was released as a mystery earlier this week and was available for blind pre-order at $3.99, with a free copy of George & Jonathan's chiptune album, "Beautiful Lifestyle," for faithful early buyers.
Indie Royale bundles increase in price as the sale continues, but paying more than the minimum knocks that price down and gets you a free copy of George & Jonathan's chiptune goodness to boot. There are just under five days left to snag the Indie Royale New Year's Eve Bundle -- and don't judge it for celebrating the new year one week late. We know some of you are still feeling the annual effects of the new year, too.

Only real bummer is that Super Crossfire isn't on Steam.

It isn't even on PCs yet, is it?

According to this page, it's not. For me it's a deal breaker, because I don't own an iDevice and that's the only game I'm interested in.

Glad I preordered as the price is going up really quickly.

Yeah but as of now the price is $4.22. I know if you preordered it was $3.99 and if you didn't the price was $2.99 when the bundle launched. So I guess I didn't save any money just paying $1 more to get the preorder bonus and locking in the amount I paid.

but unlike the Humble Indie Bundle, none of the proceeds here go to charity.
Unless you count funding Indie game development as charity, which I think could be argued as valid.

Was interested till I heard Nuclear Dawn didnt have single player.
None of it, as far as I know, goes to charity. So... I have no reason to put down $4.

I applaud them for what they do and how they do it, but I cannot get behind their game selection.

I can get behind anything when a ~$50 MSRP collection is available for the price of a tasty sammich

Why would he buy games that he's not interested in, just because they're cheap?
Buying things that you have no interest in, but are "on sale" or seem cheap, doesn't make you a "smart" buyer; it makes you a compulsive one.

The reply I want to post simply is not posting, so I'm going to submit this uninteresting post in the hopes that it registers.

I did not intend to criticize his distaste for the games or sell him on something he obviously doesn't want, I was just stating my counterpoint. I enjoy the Indie Royales/Humble Bundles/etc. because they offer products that I find compelling at what I consider irresistible pricing.
For the record, I AM an awful compulsive buyer and not quite proud of it, but I can sleep a little easier spending chump change on a few games rather than buying every cool game Steam has on sale during its mega-salesa, all of which are inevitably discounted yet again later on.

Those of you who haven't played Fractal, go buy this now. The guys behind Fractal are awesome; they also created Auditorium and Pulse, Volume One.

Indie Royale bundles seem to pale in comparison to the Humble Indie bundles. The one Indie Royale bundle I did buy was for a game that then appeared in the next Humble Indie bundle anyway.
Also, no charity doesn't help.

At least with Indie Royale, games come with an individual key unlike HIB.
HIB #4 had Super Meat Boy which I already own but I couldn't gift it...
