Vlambeer is "speechless" after 1,000,000 crates have been collected in Super Crate Box iOS in a little over 12 hours after the game's release. The math gets tricky here: that doesn't mean the $1 app has sold a million copies, since collecting dozens of crates is the focus of the gameplay, but it does suggest the title is doing well.
"We're afraid Apple hasn't shared sales data with us yet!" Vlambeer's Rami Ismail told Joystiq when we asked. "Apple hasn't selected their features for the week yet, but Super Crate Box came from nowhere and climbed to the top 100 paid apps in many countries around the world. We're practically speechless at what a rollercoaster ride this launch was."
The success comes as happy New Year's present. The studio spent the latter half of 2010 dealing with the Radical Fishing debacle, in which it saw an iOS clone of its browser-based game hooking App Store customers.

Good to see the controversy with muffin knight didn't slow them down. It's a fun game on the pc. Might just have to pick it up on ios.

Whoa wait a minute, I didn't know they also made Radical Fishing.
So they had TWO of their concepts "borrowed"? That sucks.

Maybe that was the wrong word to use.
SCB came out on pc, but then muffin knight came out on ios. It's VERY similar to SCB, like how the fishing games were. Maybe more so.
Basically, I'm just saying it's nice that MK didn't take away any steam from SCB's release. MK isn't even a bad game, but SCB deserves the attention.

I assure you I helped with that number. I had gotten easily 200+ crates before I unlocked the second stage.
Either I am terrible or the game is that hard.

I've found that the buttons are either too small, or placed awkwardly. 90% of my deaths happen because my thumbs come down and don't actually hit the buttons. The other 10% is because my thumbs cover the botton of the level.
Maybe it's because I'm used to playing it on the Winnitron, but the ios control scheme is a headache.
Great game though.

The press release did its job and I was encouraged to buy the game. Plenty of fun, but the buttons don't always work well for me (on an iPad) - sometimes I shoot when I have strayed a tiny bit off the jump button.
I've had my 69p worth but only on level 3.
