AGH, I'm so pissed. I was going to unlock it when I hit halftime, but then I discovered someone managed to buy themselves a 3200 MSP game from my points >:(
I plan on getting this, but I might have to wait for Microsoft to do their "investigation process" which takes a month.

Call MS. Everyone is getting hacked with the same scheme. I'm locked out of my account while they "investigate" and refund my MS points.

@burjeffton I plan on it at some point soon. I'm somewhat paranoid to do it because I've heard of cases where people get locked out for months at a time when Microsoft already restored their points. Some people say their stuff gets fixed in a couple days, but procedure means they are still forced to have their gamertags locked for at least 25 days.

@tylerh1701 I'm not going to be missing a WHOLE lot while I use a new account for the time being. The only downsides are not being to to play BF3 (I don't want to start from scratch on a temporary account) and having to wait a few weeks to be able to download the Fenix Rising Gears pack. Assuming they restore my points and account properly, I'll be fine.
And hopefully playing the full version of Blitz shortly thereafter.

They could've at least gave us ONE after the play hit...jeez... its fun... Although, I think NBA Jam was done a bit cleaner because they had a previous build to work off of but Blitz is still fun...

No post-play hits is a big deal. Not a dealbreaker, but a big deal. I can't believe they took it out, and I hope a patch can resolve my silent outrage.

They didn't want to take them out, they WERE in the original build; but the NFL made them out, because it doesn't fit with their "image".

The three hearts system does not accurately depict how strongly supported you are in this quest.

Add me to the list. Everything about it was just so much fun. I loved the different rinks and playing as the aliens. One with modern rosters would be awesome!

The 3 on 3 xbla game out is alright but doesn't do the original game justice.

They took out what I thought was the best parts about this game! Who didn't have a blast spearing the receivers before the pass and dropping elbows on mofos five times after the play?! It will be truly missed! :(

I remember reading somewhere that the NFL called for the removal of post-play hits. I guess it was the only way they could use the official teams. The article mentioned that the Nfl doesn't condone any moves that risk the safety of its players., whether it be depicted in a game or in the league.

I didn't think late hits would matter at all, but after every single play I get frustrated as I try to move my player to the grounded opponent for a body slam and nothing happens. It's the frustration that sometimes happened in the original when a scoring drive or first down would render your player un-controllable while you were taunted and couldn't fight.
I also think games take a little longer, and gameplay is overall slower. It's especially hard to get big plays as after a catch it seems like the defense is always WAY faster than any receiver and will quickly catch up and minimize yards-after-catch
Finally, the buttons in the new one confuse the hell out of me. Before all I needed was turbo, switch players, dive/tackle. Now with 5-6 buttons, it's a little more confusing and made only more confusing when things don't do what they are supposed to. I press Y to try to intercept a ball and 95% of the time my player will do a diving tackle instead. The fact that audibles at the line snap players (AND defenses) to new positions kinda stinks as well, because people online will use this to prevent running a defense.

It's a pretty good game, and I'm going to play the hell out of it because it IS Blitz, with updated rosters, graphics, and online gameplay, but I still don't think I'm putting away the ol' N64 yet.

You forgot to put quotes around "defense." There is no defense in NFL Blitz. There are three things to Blitz's gameplay: offense, lucky turnovers, and even more offense. Defense is a myth.

Dude i agree with u all the way. Like I love how this game feels more like NFL Street more than NFL Blitz. Its like all EA did was make the game feel like there old game NFL Street and then change the title name and replace it with NFL Blitz instead. Like we do want some crappy game that EA came out with years ago. We want the return of the king of hitting players after after a touch down of the field to feel to a real football field but with that arcade feel to it. Plus the button layout is all messed up.
That's why I just feel like this game was a huge let down!

In all seriousness, I'm passing on this because there's no late hits.

I also quit playing SSF4 after like a week because there were no more slow-mo last-second late hits in that one like there were in the original SF4.

Does that mean there's something wrong with me?

More to deal with hurting people that can't fight back, than big word I don't like very much. Being able to tackle the doods that just scored on me (cause I sucked at Blitz) was the only thing that I ever liked about the game. That, and playing as some animal or clown or whatever.

I would get it if it wasn't 1200 MS points. If it had late hits i'd pay the 1200, but its doesn't. It also doesn't haven't mortal kombat characters like the original.

If anything, the zombies in the game killed it for me. Zombie oversaturation. If I want zombies, I'll get a RE series game or play Black Ops; and I hardly play the zombie mode on there. No late hits was another factor too.

This reads a whole lot more like a press release than a review...where's the discussion of the controls? How does it feel? Does being on fire work the same/is it awesome? Can you drag guys along? Are the teams rated like before? Etc.

I thought I was pretty straightforward in the review, but I guess not. It feels and controls like the classics -- getting on fire works the same way and if you have spent any considerable amount of time with Blitz in the past, you'll feel right at home here. As a longtime fan of the series, I'm extremely happy with the final product.

im sorry but this game definately doesnt deserve this score or the Blitz name. It is slow, there's no extra hits (which was what blitz is all about), the animations do not look good at all and there arent really that much of a difference in teams. This game is trying to be Blitz PG-13.

This game was all about clothes-lining people for those 3-4 seconds after the end of every play, complete with the generic sound of someone expressing pain of a 300 lb. pile of bricks smashing into them.

I'm pretty disappointed to hear they removed that possibility. That moves this title from the "buy" to "rent" column.
