We don't know about you guys, but when we play word-association games during our Tuesday therapy sessions with Dr. Busklokavitch, "Sonic the Hedgehog" and "Progressive Auto Insurance" go together like "peanut butter" and "jelly," or "plastic sheets" and "reciprocating hand saw."

I don't feel so bad having Progressive anymore.

Using a video game character who speeds all the time and knows jack about brakes to sell car insurance. Luhhh it.

Well at least they used the music and sound effects from the Genesis era so it has that going for it. Now I've got Sonic 3 on the brain along with saving on some insurance. Strangely I'm ok with this...

Don't you mean Bosconovich, or would that be me remembering too much of Tekken 3, and I'll wind up with Gon the dinosaur...

I can name a few recent ones:

Sonic Rush
Sonic Unleashed (Sonic's Day stages were a step in the right direction)
Sonic Colors
Sonic Generations

Perhaps not so coincidentally, Sonic Unleashed, Colors, and Generations are all inspired by Sonic Rush's gameplay mechanics (mainly boosting and vertical running).

Sonic Adventure 2 was good, but that game still had far too many glitches and useless extra characters for my liking.

Rouge = Knuckles
Shadow = Sonic
Eggman = Tails

Get rid of the clones and fix the fall-through-platforms glitches and you got yourself a stellar game.

Sonic '06 was rubbish, worse than Sonic Adventure 1 (seriously, go play Sonic Adventure 1 again, it hasn't aged well at all).

And let's just pretend those on-rails "Sonic storybook" spinoff games (The Secret Rings, The Black Knight) never happened.

I haven't played much of Sonic Heroes, but from what I hear it was pretty good (except there were way too many extra characters that just added filler and nothing substantial to the story or gameplay).

So that short list I originally listed are considered some of the best Sonic games in years.

No, I think they were just saying that those characters matched up for gameplay. It was kind of pointless. In that sense, Eggman wasn't needed. As a villain, he obviously shouldn't be purged.

I'd get on him for selling out; but at least this means he's more relevant again.

Allstates is going to counter by using the Flash as a spokesmen.

I like the fact that they used Sonic 3 music... but I hate Flo. So. Very. Much. God, that woman is annoying/stupid.

Sonic doesn't even speak? Not that I'm a big fan of any of the Sonic voice acting, but to quote the good ol' Jaleel White Sonic, "That's no good!"

Speaking of gaming and insurance, anyone else seen those Farmers Insurance ads with JK Simmons and immediately think of Cave Johnson in Portal?
The stuff he does in those ads totally channel ridiculous Aperture Science stuff.

I like how Sonic doesn't talk here and they use music from Sonic 3.
Maybe they originally had him speaking and had 'His World' playing before they realized this would never help them sell anything to anyone.

You'd think Dr. Eggman would be on the hunt for insurance.

they could've easily got jaleel white to say something for this commercial and it would've been the all time best commercial with sonic in it. also i'd like to point out that every sonic game on the GBA, DS, and 3DS has been good enough to live up to the genesis games in fact screw new worlds just remake every sonic 1-3 and sonic and chuckles stage for sonic generations 2 and never ever ever think we care about reliving the 3d stages from after that

What I don't love is that I got into an accident yesterday and Progressive aren't paying for my damages... but Sonic makes it "somewhat" better. :P

You know, my only opinion about this commercial is that I enjoy that they used Sonic 3 music.

I don't know what all the fuss about "yay he has no voice" is for. Sure, the Sonic games didn't originally have voice-acting, then when the later ones did, it kinda sucked, but the current Sonic voice-actors are good, strong voice actors who have played many other popular and well-known characters, mainly from anime, and I happen to think that Sonic's current voice is perfect for him. Sure, it's my opinion, but I do get sick of seeing these kind of debates (although thankfully it hasn't escalated yet. Not that I'm helping).

By the way, is it wrong for me to be anticipating a new Sonic game so shortly after Generations and anticipating it to be GOOD? Because that's how I feel.

Part of me still wants Sega to make a new console, too...
