This has got to be one of the best things about being sick from work. Just today, though. That demo looks absolutely bonkers. Off to download.

"Description

Once arevered deity, Asura was betrayed by his fellow gods and stripped of all his powers. Consumed by anger at the injustice he has suffered and swearing vengeance, Asura discovers he can use this fury to his advantage and turn it against his enemies."

Kratos, is that you?

Maybe your brother-in-law from your Mother's first Cousin's side?

Kratos kills bosses the size of houses.
Asura kills bosses the size of PLANETS.

Bayonetta meets QTE. I'll stick with Bayonetta.

The demo is over the top but come on. You fight and defeat a boss bigger than the planet in what, Act 5? Even in the realms of video games I cannot suspend my disbelief *THAT* far. What's left after that? Fighting a black hole?

@EazySCT It might be like Gurren Lagann, you'll eventually end up fighting bosses bigger than galaxies and you'll be throwing nebulas at each other.

Don't forget an uppercut that makes the Shoryoken weep as it sends the enemy straight through and shatters the space-time continuum for a brief moment.

Was looking forward to this, but sadly I can't play it properly because the options only let you invert camera controls, while aiming in that first demo mission is done with the left stick which cannot be inverted. Shame.

Do you have your left stick inverted in other games? For walking? If not, there is no reason you can't get used to aiming without inversion when using the left stick. Didn't care for the demo. It is like DBZ with God of War QTEs and the main bad guy looks like a little like Ganondorf.

In fact I do. As soon as a stick is used for aiming it should be inverted (for players that play inverted). Ever played OoT or MM on N64? Only one stick for your left thumb and when in manual aim mode it's inverted.
Inverting it for walking though would be ridiculous.

I just want to clarify. You have you "walking" controls inverted in other games? When you hit up on the stick, you walk backwards? If that is the case, you have some serious problems. That is very weird.

As I said before: That would be ridiculous. So no.
My point is just that even if aiming is done with the left stick it (the aiming, NOT walking) should be inverted for people who play inverted. Just like it was done in Zelda on N64 and GC.

I'm sorry. I, somehow, was completely blind to the last sentence of your previous reply. My fault. Okay, now that I can read properly. It makes no sense to me that if you are used to using the left stick for walking normally, how does that not equate to being easily able to do the same thing with aiming. Can't you see how much more awkward it would be if the aiming was inverted and when you regain control of you character, it switched back?
You are already used to using the left stick for walking in every other game. You don't think that after only a couple of minutes you could get fairly competent at it? It isn't really a big deal to me or anything, but it just seems odd that you can't do something that you basically already do anyway.

No can do. Aiming non-inverted with any stick feels completely alien to me. Older 3D games were almost all inverted and that feels natural to me, because I don't think of the stick directions as "up" and "down" but instead as "forward" and "back". So it translates into:
walking forward > stick forward
walking back > stick back
looking down > tilt head forward (and thus the stick)
looking up > tilt head back (stick too as above)
You know, like having your head under the thumb. Look at Twilight Princess on the GC. Right stick rotates camera, left stick walks and aims and when in aim mode it's inverted.

Checked out the demo. I can't believe joystiq has been promoting this so much. It's pretty much "quick time event: the game" . Let's hope the 13-2 demo as big a let down

its not... i really like the XIII-2 demo... a lot actually. (it just seems a bit strange playing it on my 360 instead of the PS3 right now.)

With as many QTEs as there were in this demo, I might as well have just watched the trailers. I do hope the actual release copy lets me keep the voices in Japanese.
