I wouldn't buy that ugly grip, not even for the extended battery life. Heck, I haven't even considered one for my 3DS.

@ItsameMatt03 Yeah me neither, I'm just gonna wait for the inevitable Vita 2000 redesign with better battery life.

That grip is ingenious. Wait until you guys go to play something on that thing that requires dual analog. It's horrendous.

I'm not sure you understand the meaning of ingenious.

"2. (of a machine or idea) Cleverly and originally devised and well suited to its purpose."

I don't see how a device well suited to it's purpose could also be horrendous.

I'm assuming he meant the grip is ingenious in that it will make playing games that require dual analogs more comfortable to play. His comment saying 'horrendous,' I'm guessing, means that your hands are going to feel like garbage playing a game that is heavy on dual analogs because of the way you have to hold the Vita without any such peripheral.

In other words, they should've just included (possibly optional) Dualshock grips from the start.

I guess if the Wii U takes off we'll eventually see just that come time for the Dualshock 4 or 5.

I can't tell if the original poster is being sarcastic or not, but I have a very similar charger grip thing for my PSP and I love it. Frankly playing a PSP without it feels wrong...

Having actual grips is a huge improvement in ergonomics. The battery life is just a bonus.

Well at least now if I throw my Vita it will likely come right back to me.

And if someone tries to steal it, it can double as a self defense tool.

I'd actually buy the grip. The Vita isn't going in my pocket anyways, it might as well be more comfortable and have better battery life.

Function over form. My portable consoles aren't fashion accessories, they're for gaming. And if the battery dies, they're useless bricks.

On the other hand, I think some of you are underestimating the power of three hours, in game time especially. That's three FULL hours.

Three hours can be a lot, or miniscule depending on your lifestyle. People who travel or commute a lot could see those 3 hours as nothing, Someone playing on the breaks during work or school will think it's plenty.

But I do think the thing that throws people off the most is that other mobile devices like iPhones or even last gen's DS Lite would get 10+ hours of battery life without breaking a sweat, so whether you need it or not, 3 hours is a huge step down.

You also have to consider that batteries don't stay at their best forever. That 3 hours of battery life may be enough for you when you get your Vita, but when it doesn't hold the same charge a year down the road and you're getting less than 2 hours, you might be a little pissed. Especially since you can't just snap out the back panel and replace the battery.

Nyko's overall quality is pretty meh.

I'd rather go with:
Madcatz
Power A (where did they come from again?)
PDP
