I'll miss this trio for sure; can't wait to see what Justin and Chris do with their vast knowledge of... whatever they actually learned from this experience. The Endgadget guys went on to make gdgt; maybe Chris and Justin will make vdgms.com.

So there I was, hating on Brian Crecente of Kotaku here in the Joystiq comments as recently as a few days ago... only to find out that he's joining the 'stiq breakaways in this new venture. I really, really can't stand that guy... but I love Chris and the McElroys, so this is something I'm willing to come to terms with. Who knows. Maybe I'll come to like the guy in his new venture.

And maybe I'll start reading Kotaku again; Stephen Totilo is pretty boss.

@Ron Burgundy

Yes. Those three, and including Arthur Gies (as well as many other journalists from many corners of the industry), are leaving and constructing what they call a major step forward in video game websites/news/journalism: A new site under the company Vox Media. The name of said site is tentatively titled "Vox Games". Their approach is very stylistic, and is said to evoke, visually, a magazine kind of look.

I'm excited.

The same company runs The Verge, I would imagine that whatever the games site is may be similar in design:

http://www.theverge.com/

It's definitely stylistically unique, though I haven' t decided how much I like it yet or not. I do like the way the group topics on a single issue together.

Wow... Chris and the McElroys are leaving and Luddy is taking over Joystiq. This just feels weird, it's like a divorce. I'm sure it's amicable and this is the grown up world. People are doing jobs but I know it may have seemed nieve but Joystiq felt a lot like a family. I'm sure you'll all do a good job at your respective sites Luddy with Joystiq and Chris with Vox but wow. I feel like the wind has been taken out of my sails.

@Fox318 Nah it's going to continue on with Luddy at the helm and what he says over at Industry Gamers (http://www.industrygamers.com/news/joystiqs-new-eic-on-vox-and-joystiqs-future/) gives me a lot of hope for the future. It sounds like he's going to try and to turn Joystiq in to a more mature venue for gaming news. With this and Vox's outlet on the radar we'll have choices of real game journalisim with a mature and articulate authorship not the drivel we so often face (plus it seems like he wants a REAL commenting system not the broke ass mule we have now) so it sounds like good things to come just a lot to absorb. Good luck those leaving for Vox and good luck Luddy I know you are a smart fellow and will do a great job. I just hope it doesn't turn ugly like 3 weeks in to my parents divorce. :-P

@commonperson I hope both Joystiq and whatever new site keep all the stupid jokes. I don't think I really want a type of games journalism that doesn't think laser combs and powdered Tang are funny.

Like the last X3F I don't know if I can listen to this. I know I'm going to be upset. You guys have been my gaming buddies for 6 years. My friends know you guys by name, and they don't read the site or listen to the podcast. Your guy's show has meant more to me than I care to admit, even on the Internet.

I will never forget you guys.

Red eeeeyyyyyyeeee I'm askin' yoooouuu.

Definitely going to enjoy this. Every week I used your guys' podcast to drown out the sounds of my old and rusty lawnmower as I sweat my ass off mowing my lawn.

I don't see why this has to end, considering they weren't on the cast anymore anyway. Unless Chris or Justin were still writing stuff for it, it had already been changed. This seems like giving up.

Wow I cant wait to listen to this. I feel kinda sad but excited all at once. I've missed this podcast and the X3F podcast like missing old friends. The funny thing is I dont miss many friends since they mostly suck...so this is a big compliment guys. I wish I could have made it to a live Joystiq show. I did run into Chris in Austin unexpectedly and said hey, and just met Justin at an MBMBAM show. I cant wait to see what the future brings, hopefully a new podcast!

So does this Finale mean the Joystiq podcast is done? (again?)

Just saw all the news about this. I have to admit, I haven't listened to the "new" podcast other than the first one or two. I realized I actually only play a few video games a year, so I'm wasn't really listening for the gaming news, though I do still like to stay somewhat informed.

I was definitely listening for entertainment value, and the casual conversational nature of the show was what kept me coming back. So thanks for the hours of enjoyment, guys!

I also felt more of a connection to this podcast since the guys were kind enough to use my submitted sound bumps as a regular part of the show (News on the March and the Do It Line). A special thank you for that!

Good luck in all your future endeavors!
