I purchased the android version. I'm surprised at how well it works on a small touchscreen (It seems a lot better suited for tablet play)

@CaramelZappa

I bought it on my Android device as well. The touchscreen controls are great, but I am not sure if I prefer the Wiimote.

I understand that Android isn't a preferred platform by game developers and the like, but honestly, why is Android stuff rarely talked about? Hell, even 2D Boy minoritizes Android OS there by "noting". Did Android purchases not make a percentage of revenue? All the articles I ever see are primarily iOS related when it comes to "mobile" news. (unless it's a Android fansite) Since Android devices are more abundant than iOS devices, you'd think that there would be more articles since it's more relavent to the interest of readers. Am I missing something? Is there some sort of conspiracy amongst news sites? The tags on this very article don't even mention Android. Cmon, seriously. What gives?

*sigh* Sorry, Joystiq. Just had to get that outta my system. I love that this indie game is getting a lot of spotlight and truly it is encouraging for indie developers to witness such accomplishment, but I needed to say it.

@pluupy Android owners (and I'm soon to be one so no anti sentiment intended) don't seem to buy very much in case you've never checked so while there are more of them (us?) there still isn't as much money changing hands to attract lots of developer focus. It's starting to change ,but just recently.

If you'll notice the numbers above tell you plainly that in all of androiddum they've only pulled in 70,000 sales while the mac app store pulled in 200,000 even though it just opened up shop in comparison.

Sadly, android users don't seem to buy much software. It's also worth noting that a lot of people got android phones because they were free phones, and a lot of people don't like to spend money. Meanwhile, the iPhone is a "premium product" with a premium price, and the people who buy it are more likely to throw more money at apps. Just a theory, though. I buy a ton of apps on my android phone.

Yeah, I buy apps on my android phone all the time too. I would buy this one if I hadn't played it on like 3 other platforms already.

@pluupy

70,000 vs 1,000,000

That's why it's "noted".

I think this is one reason devs would move away from traditional gaming devices. 1 million in sales on mobile vs 90% piracy rate* on other devices.

I bought this just two days ago for iPhone, I wonder how close I was to helping hit their milestone.

I probably would have bought it sooner for Mac, but for some reason people think that if you're playing on a larger monitor you should have to pay more (2% sales, 4% of revenue should say something).

Don't tell me Mac is poor for software and then charge twice the price. I'm glad the iPhone is having such dramatic effect on the Mac software and games market and general pricing. Apple truly has revolutionized gaming and software in that way alone.

Great game that I played almost 4 years ago. Kinda hoping to see something new from 2D Boy (unless I'm missing it)

What was once a terrific success story on how two guys broke barriers on console gaming and made Wii GOTY in 2008 over Super Smash Bros Brawl is now just making them look like one trick ponies.

Also, this new trend of Epic (Infinity Blade), Activision (Call of Duty Zombies), 5th Cell (Scribblenauts Remixed, that new run game) and this on iOS and non-traditional handheld consoles is really upsetting.

The games could be a lot better on 3DS or Vita, and they're walking away from a lot of money too

While I love WoG, and was tempted to buy it on Android, I've played the game to death on PC a few times already.

ie. Please release a new game 2D Boy (or Tomorrow Corporation, Gabler's other venture that hasn't done anything)!
