Hitman is on my list of top games for this year.

I can't wait to see the special editions and (of course) play the game.

If stealth is still the main emphasis, and action is a nice side dish, I think it could be a great game, not just a great Hitman game but a great game in general.

Wasn't he on his own mission in Hitman 2?

Fathert Vittorio was kidnapped at the start of the game, and while he may have taken missions to gather money/information, overall he was on his own, personal mission.

I can see where they're coming from, saying 47 is more in control of what missions he does, but "personal" has been done already.

Also, getting closer to 47 just makes me think of that hideous movie. 47 is meant to be a smart killing machine, caring more about the job than the people involved.

From this preview, there's also a lot of other things I find myself disliking the sound of. It could end up being a good game and I'm sure people will enjoy it imensly, but it just seems like the old feeling of Hitman just won't be there from what people keep saying.

@Labreya Idk the hit man movie wasn't a masterpiece but it definitely wasnt the worst translation form game to movie out there. I'm getting more and more excited the more I hear about this game. Please don't let me down agent 47.

@Labreya

Let me break down your comment by paragraph:

1. Yes he was on his own mission, but like you alluded to, he had to take many other missions that weren't for his direct mission to find who killed Father Vittorio. I think since no money is changing hands in this next game, it feels more like 47 has a personal vendetta to settle, not finding who killed who.

2. The movie was terrible! I 100% agree on this one! I think we saw the transformation in Hitman 2 of him becoming more compassionate because he wanted out of the assassin game. (No pun intended)

3. While I was skeptical of the bullet time and detective mode being included in the Hitman series, I think it'll end up just fine. Seems like these is still a level of intelligence players need to have, rather than being told where to go like in Batman. Furthermore, you only have a limited amount of juice to power these features too, so Agent 47 can't stay in the mode throughout an entire level, which makes it a little bit better.

That "seeing through walls" and tagging enemies features are really something that shouldn't be in this game. Slowing down time may be okay for those who like action, though. But anyway hope that won't spoil the game, can't wait for it!

I can't blame developers for trying make a game more appealing to the masses. This is one way of doing it. It's kind of a downer, but I think with only having a limited amount of time to use it throughout a level, it'll add another level of strategy. You have to admit, casual fans of the series would probably say the game is too difficult without this feature, which I can understand. However, I would be cool if it were just an option.

seeing through walls is just an evolution of the map system where you could see each and every person and which direction they were facing.

A 'hardcore' mode that allows you to turn off the seeing through walls and the like has already been confirmed.

Thank goodness.

Going undercover, planning how to assassinate targets and errr...dressing up in dead people's clothes was what I found exciting about the Hitman series.

This just sounds like any other action sneak-em-up out there.

All of which you can still do in this game...The Hitman series is one of the founding members of the Stealth genre, so I'm sure they have a few tricks up their sleeves to differentiate themselves from their competitors.

Which stealth games are you thinking of? I've only played and heard of two.. Hitman and MGS. I don't count Spinter Cell really... Mostly because of that seeing through walls and paths thing they mentioned, really hope the player can disable that.

Agree with that. Anyway, I don't think it will be mandatory to use it.

its a shame thats the story is basied on his payback not hired contract basied.
storyline has to be decent for it to work. with hired contracts you dont really need to rely on story, just planing, then the hit.
why does the story has to be anything to do with that last games, just start with this IP.
fresh and back to basics

I really want this game but I'm a tiny bit worried.

For me personally, Blood Money was the prime Hitman game. It was exactly the sort of missions and gameplay I wanted. I feel like this new game might be putting 47 almost entirely in hostile environments which I'm not too keen on. I've always liked the few missions per game where I can walk around and get a feel for the place before actually starting my mission, such as the opera house level.

Don't get me wrong, I'm getting the game regardless and whatever direction it takes I'll probably still like it... it's just personally I'd prefer the levels that aren't made up almost entirely of restricted areas.

We can all speculate and hope for the best, but we all know that in the end, this is "Hitman:Conviction". Too bad, too sad. I miss Thief and Hitman, but playing Skyrim in stealth mode will have to do for now.
Who are these developers talking to, anyway? Frat boys?

Who played hitman and missed having bullets flying everywhere? Hitman is 100% stealth, and if you went into "action" you DID fail, and that was the great thing about it! This will be "conviction" all the way.

the Splinter Cell and Red Dead Game Mechanics in this game seems like a bad idea for this game ... i'm just so use to how bloodmoney was and i enjoyed it for what it was I think we can do without it and stop taking elements from other games such as those.

While you did make a good point (even though it's just people in general, not gamers), you used possibly the worst example ever. "Call of Duty" and "change" made me laugh

We dont WANT to be closer to 47. Thats one of the cool things about him! He's basically a flesh and bone terminator, with no feelings, remorse, and not much personality. A finely tuned killing machine was how i liked him!

Took the words right out of my mouth. I've already experienced this whole song and dance with Ubisoft. They killed off the Splinter Cell series (at least for me) with the release of Conviction. It's 2012 ya'll, big budget niche games can't exist in today's market! Thanks to all of the casual gamers out there, we get "dumbed down," streamlined games that lack any sort of complexity or depth.

There use to be a time where developers would create a game for a specific audience. Their goal wasn't to make a trillion dollars and have it be a global brand. But hey, got to make that money, right? Well that's great for them, can't say the same for myself.

I love and loathe this generation of gaming.
