Do you want an evil spirit bound to you for the rest of your existence? How do you really know? If only the forces of evil got together and decided to offer some kind of pilot program.
Thankfully, in this day and age of video games about evil things, we have demos. 2K Games is set to offer an early taste of The Darkness 2, starting with Xbox Live Gold subscribers next week, January 17. PC and PS3 users will be able to sample it on January 24. PS3 users in Asia/Pacific and Europe regions will have to wait an additional day, until January 25.
2K didn't offer any details on the contents of the demo, so we just hope it helps us gauge whether we're going to pressure our friends into buying it -- not to mention our tolerance level when it comes to evil hissing things and guys talking in thick, wiseguy accents.

The Darkness was one of my favorite games of '07. Though I am concerned at Starbreeze's absence, I have faith in Digital Extremes delivering a decent sequel. Sadly, I actually feel this title might bomb commercially regardless.

I'm really hoping that The Darkness II will be able to properly carry the torch that was lit by Starbreeze. The original game was, and still is, amazing. It was one of the few shooters that I have ever played that had drawn me in with it's characters and story. One of the things that I absolutely loved about the first title was the blend and balance of it's supernatural and mafioso elements. Few games in the FPS genre since have been able to pull off what the original Darkness did, and I really hope that Digital Extremes manages to make lightening strike twice.

The Darkness 1 was I think very innovative and well put together FPS and story with just the right amount of violence a hint of comedy and seriousness, here's hoping The Darkness 2 exceeds it in all aspects BTW is that the Twin Towers I see in the background?yea this game will do just fine.

The only thing I couldn't get used to about D1 was the floaty aiming. I guess I'm too used to other FPS. But that is a small, small, small nitpick. Chronicles of Riddick, the precursor to Darkness by Starbreeze, is also a very much under rated and overlooked game. I love Chronicles of Riddick. Even though D1 is 5 years old now... the graphics in that one still hold up nicely.
And Mike Patton as the voice of the Darkness is pretty bad ass too.
