I agree. What do people do if they're on the move? Or laying in bed trying to get a quick game session in?

More importantly....what about left handed gamers? The circle pad add on + the stand?

*Shudders*

WILL SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN?!?!?

Yeah, this stand +the "extra" analog stick = not so portable anymore.......why nintendo wants so hard to make the NDS the next Genesis???????

I'm confused... What was wrong with the Genesis? Considering its competition at the time(SNES, TG-16, NEO-GEO); it didn't do too bad.

Based on complaints of the game's controls, it appears it is a solution. What do you propose?

I wasn´t talking about the success of the console which was huge no doubt, i was talking about the crazy ideas that Nintendo has with the 3ds of adding more and more stupid things to the 3ds, to make it look like a huge brick and not an portable console. Sega did the same with the genesis, they started to add more and more peripherals to the genesis: the sega cd, the 32x, game cartridges that could be connected to other cartridges, at the end the genesis looked like a huge Frankenstein, but at least it wasn´t mean to be portable. With the 3ds things are going very weird so far, we have the extra pad, now this tablet thing, next they are going to add a dvd drive to it.

Ahh, gotcha. I can agree on that... especially considering I bought a 2nd version(the blue boxed, side-connected model)SegaCD when SEWER SHARK was packed-in.

Now that I think about it, it's a shame that the Wii was the only system to have an offline/packed-in game this generation in its standard model at release. Makes me wonder if the eighth generation of consoles will have even have a controller...

Please just hurry up with the 3DS Lite so you can stop spreading misery with these shit plastic add-ons.

It will be rivalling the Wii for crappy add-ons soon.

Aaaaand the PS2 didn't ship with a HDD or an ethernet port, the PS3 didn't ship with hi-def cables, the Wii didn't ship with motion plus, the Genesis didn't ship with the 32X, the N64 didn't ship with a memory expander or rumble pack, the NES didn't ship with a Power Glove, and so on and so on until the end of time...

@baby sea tuna Those accessories weren't/aren't as necessary (the HD cable being an example) as this stand is if you want to even get a decent experience out of Kid Icarus.

Then don't buy the game. I'm not going to (not because of the stand but because it just doesn't look that great to me.) I was referring more to the lack of necessity of a $100 proprietary wi-fi dongle for a system that comes with an ethernet port and the ability to hook any number of 3rd party wi-fi bridges up via USB.

@baby sea tuna And I was sure i wouldn't buy it from the moment it was announced an on-rails game and I was replaying to your comment of "EVERY SYSTEM IN EXISTENCE EVER"(yes all caps, sorry) which anyone can tell is completely false since,as I stated before, their accessories aren't as essential as this is in order to get full experience out of a game.

I would like to play it but it's not something I'm hyped out of my mind for. Not really the reason I bought my 3DS, but a good addition to it's library and something I'll check out.

But as for this add on... wtf? is this game that intense or something?

Well, a little back story:

I bought the DS Phat day one.... then a DS Lite day one... so far so good.

Then I got the DSi day one.... kinda regretted it, and it started cramping my hands and I wished the screens were bigger. Then they announce the DSi XL.

During this time I also acquired a Incredible 2, and when you're gaming on a DINC2 (which btw has some AMAZING JRPGs from Temco) and that beautiful screen, only to go back to your DSi to play Zelda 4 Swords on THAT screen.... ick. Plus I realized I don't like singleplayer 4 Swords very much.

So here is the 3DS. Although a much better step up from DSi than DSi was from DS, it still has this prototype feel and look about it, and all these add-ons and band-aids aren't helping my thoughts on that. Those great games will be there when the 3DS Lite drops, and hopefully it will not only include dual sliders, but bigger screens/less plastic as well.

I agree that while the 3DS is no DSiXL (which was my favorite iteration of DS, although not exactly portable) the real beauty about it is more about the fact that Nintendo finally got their shit together on the downloadable front for their portables. Now, granted, they're going to ask too much for their games and never put them on sale, but there's nothing like having a stack of awsome GBA games (still my favorite handheld system) on one machine that fits (uncomfortably) in my pocket. Plus, Mario 3D Land is AWESOME.

I get wanting to wait for the inevitable redesign, but you kinda did miss out on some good stuff by not being dumb enough to drop $250 on a 3DS at launch.

I hear ya. And there's a good possibility I pick one up after I grab a Wii U. But I also notice that I really enjoy the console aspect of gaming on a big ass TV over the portable approach in recent years.

But damn... that RE: Revelations....

I'm really impressed buy your lack of fanboyism. For example I like the PSVita because it's a huge step up, not because I adore Sony. If the screen resolution was the same as the PSP's 7 year old screen, I wouldn't like it. Nintendo unfortunately sticks to super low res screens and underpowered tech. I would love for them to change that policy but it's seems they aren't interested in doing that. That said, I may grab the 3DS redesign if it's nice enough.

and....

You're returning your 3DS because of that?

I can't imagine what reasons you use to break up with significant others....

despite it being ugly and not really useful to me, I don't understand why you want to abandon a system because it has a game that COMES WITH FREE ACCESSORIES! Have you never had a pre-order bonus before? Its like the same thing, except no need to pre-order.
