This week's PlayStation Blogcast revealed that Ico and Shadow of the Colossus will be available next Tuesday, January 17, through the PlayStation Network. Regularly priced $40 at retail as a bundle, the two games will be $20 apiece on the PSN.
Other retail games being added to the PSN next week include Crysis 2 for $40, along with Tom Clancy titles Rainbow Six Vegas and Splinter Cell: Double Agent for $20 each.
If the idea of touching discs has held you back from Ico or Shadow of the Colossus, now's the time to check out these artistic milestones.

I recently bought the Ico/Colossus collection - I would have waited for this PSN version if I knew it was coming!
I know digital releases cost more than retail and you don't own a physical copy of the game that you can lend out or trade-in, but the benefit of not having to physically insert a disc in the system and swap out whatever other game you had in the system is worth it for me.

@JasonA you don't have to take care of the disc, your friends can't stole the disc, you can also share or sell the digital release, and finally you will (probably) be able to download it for PS4

Yeah so they said. My local Best Buy didn't honor that. it was VERY VERY much YMMV, the CAG and Best Buy forums were rife with horror stories about stores not accepting the deal or convienently being "sold out" the whole time.

But on the upside, as illogical as it is, they did honor that price for the Uncharted bundle. I guess I should mention that in all fairness.

Yet again, digital distribution on consoles offer no savings whatsoever. Enjoy the future!

I have more than one PS3 at home that I share with my kids. I buy one game I essentially get two games for the price of one. In addition, the benefit of not having to physically insert a disc in the system and swap out whatever other game you had in the system is worth it for me

Maybe you lot in the US are getting bent over by the exchange rate. The Ico HD Collection launched on the UK PS store just before Christmas. It was and still is cheaper to buy the digital version over the retail Blu-ray version. It is very well priced in the UK.
There will be a problem (for us consumers) when retailers put the Blu-ray version on sale and undercut the PS store. In fact I'm surprised that retailers haven't complained yet. They don't like it when they can't compete and usually refuse to stock the product.

Something is fishy here.

@Cranky Penguin I'm glad someone said it I am getting sick and tired of these companies saving on production and shipping of discs but don't want to pass on the savings on to the gamers. Greedy freakin people

Couldn't get the Joystiq comment system to work either apparently. Glad I'm not alone in that :)

I like the convenience of digital games. Why do you think the iOS platform is so popular?
Not having to worry about getting scratches or smudges on my discs is so relieving. I hardly ever trade in my games anyways, I've learned it's a waste of money since you don't even get half of what you paid for back.
If I could LEGALLY put all my Wii and PS3 games on their consoles, it would be so much easier for me.

Good thing I bought the retail copy a few months ago then. I hope they put God of War 1 and 2 HD on PSN soon.

I was surprised to see this in the PSN Store already here in the UK when I logged on a few days ago, it's £20 for the bundle, ICO is on it's own for £13.99, but I couldn't find SOTC on its own, but I imagine it'd be the same price, so £20 isn't too unreasonable, it's a bit cheaper than in the shops, but I'd always choose a physical copy over digital.
