Yeah, this seems pretty asinine. Not sure why they think anyone would be concerned what New York-specific critics want to vote for in games. Though, to be fair, I dislike New York (this kind of egocentrism being a large reason why).

Also, shouldn't that be Inaugural?

I may be a little bit bias too but I'm just not seeing Uncharted 3 on here enough. Especially shocked not to see it under best writing--not "boss" enough? Maybe didn't "drop" enough F-bombs for ya?

And how are you going to have an open world award but not a linear award? That's kind of like having an Oscar for Best Film starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

...I guess it's a New York thing.

@Acosta02 If you take the Nolan Movies, Gotham is indeed Chicago, althoucht it could be any metropolis. I still think that game shouldn't be on NY centric theme, I mean, "Arkham City" is in the title, not NYC.

Huh. I guess I had never paid attention to that aspect in the movies.

Otherwise, I had either assumed it was an entirely fictional city or based near NYC. I mean, isn't there a real Gotham that is a part of NYC? I'm from Oklahoma, so I really don't know...just thought I'd seen that somewhere.

Huh. That's interesting.

Also, I noticed on Wikipedia that it said the following:
"Gotham, a nickname for New York City, first used by Washington Irving in 1807 in his satirical periodical Salmagundi"

Must be where I got that idea from.

What? I'm surprised "Rayman 3D" showed up on the list for best portable title. There were a TON of better games than this. Not only was it a remake, but there wasn't anything special added to it aside from the 3D feature.

What about Ghost Trick, GR: Shadow Wars (a personal favorite of mine), or a bunch of others? Or, I would think if you were to choose a remake it would be OOT 3D...

Anyway, it's not something I really care about, it just seems odd to me.

Oh, and on a side note, I think the idea for a "Most New York-centric" award is pretty interesting. Gives it something unusual without being totally dumb.

Will the few seats open to the public be for the crowd that attended the opening of the human interaction exhibit at the MoMA? Cuz I don't think I can handle that amount of smug again.

Dark Souls not up for GotY? I know every one will have their favorites, but to omit this is a travesty, IMO.

That aside, I long for a real awards show for gamers, but it doesn't seem to exist yet (except for the IGDA awards, but those aren't televised, to my knowledge). Instead we get tacky (this) to preposterous (spikeTV). Uhg.

Uncharted does have crazy quality, but no real originality. Take Indiana Jones and add some monsters here and there and you've got Uncharted. Though I stopped at the second game, I don't really think the series deserves any GOTY personally.
