Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland transmutes NA and EU in May

Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland, part three of Gust's Atelier trilogy, is currently being localized for western audiences and prepped for launch by NIS in North America and Europe this May. NIS also published the first and second entries in the series, Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland and Atelier Totori: The Adventurer of Arland.
As the artful trailer above explains, Atelier Meruru concerns the adventures of Princess Meruru and her quest to become an alchemist while simultaneously growing her kingdom of Arls to its full potential. "Development" is a primary aspect of the gameplay, with story progression changing based on how the player decides to expand and improve the kingdom. Personally, we had no idea that becoming a master alchemist involved so much sweeping.

Nothing wrong with that actually. Just because its not a 'popular' game and you like playing it, does not make you weird.

I guess every game that has 'Final Fantasy' in the title means they're all related too, right? Don't be daft.
These three games are a separate story arc - just because they all have 'Atelier' in the title doesn't mean they're all related you know. Hence my comment: 'sad to see *this* little epic end."

Plus, now Gust is part of Tecmo Koei, and while I do respect TK, their first 'order' was to make a social game of the Atelier Series... I'm Scared.

That was fast. Awesome. I've only played Atelier Annie on the DS by that was fun. I have Totori premium edition on order and I'll have to put a hefty was of cash aside for the premium edition of Rorona sometime. I'm a sucker for art books and soundtracks so I'm pretty much obliged to get the premium versions of these games, especially since they use an anime art style and I love anime.
Anyway, I didn't really expect it to release so soon (I was thinking third quarter 2012), so this is really great news. NISA are great.

Awesome. I think this is actually the first time I see a post about the Alchemist of Arland series here on Joystiq, and this is the third game already. Anyway can't wait to get this. These games are a total joy to play.

Wow, I'm actually surprised at how good the in-game 3D models look (sparse town backgrounds aside)

You did read where he wrote " It's as clichéd as those bulky characters from the West.", right?
Not that I am necessarily agreeing or disagreeing with him...

Clearly you guys haven't seen Fullmetal Alchemist. 90% of the series is Edward sweeping out Mustang's office.

The other 10% is Edward and Winry making googly eyes at each other.

I dont think you were watching the same FMA as I was, then. I do remember that Ed and Al didnt meet Mustang till way later in the anime (and Ed never stormed out of his office much), and Winry also didnt reappear for a long time into the show. It was rare they met with her again.
