Former Gameloft Auckland head studio programmer Glenn Watson alleged in July that Gameloft pushed its employees to work 14-hour days, seven days a week, violating New Zealand's 2002 Health and Safety in Employment Act. The resulting investigation by the New Zealand Labour Department, covered by Develop, has now been closed after finding no substantial evidence of inappropriate crunch time or any breach of health and safety laws, and no legal action will be taken against Gameloft.
This is good news for mobile-game enthusiasts -- and for Gameloft employees.

Holy shit, I never knew they were in New Zealand. After 6 years I still don't know shit about this country.

Hey, it takes long shifts to create original IPs

Hey it's called treating your workers fairly. Health and wellness are far more important than making a stupid video game.
Priorities people, priorities.

Its sometimes hard to differentiate sarcasm over serious over internet. Kinda like when you forget to out "lol" behind things.

@cwinters2k8 If Gameloft were in the movie business, they would jump straight to TransMorphers 3: Dark Side of the Sun

Well I don't really see how deaths hands comment could of been misinterpreted. If you know anything about gameloft youd know they are known for not having a single original game. Besides the probe found insignificant evidence so there isn't much to be pounding on your cheat about.

it's nice that people can just admit it when they walk into a comment thread armed with zero information to contribute. that's what makes the internet such a civil and wonderful place to have conversations.
honestly, if you knew anything, and i mean anything, about the types of games that gameloft put out, the sarcasm is slapping you in the face. you are ignorant of gameloft's products, and thought you'd walk into that thread anyway.
and then when you get told, your best defense is a "your mom" joke. winning.

It's only good news to the employees if the allegations are, in fact, false. I suspect they are, in fact, true, but to say so without support from co-workers means you lose your career.

Since they are making games, it's like 14 hours of fun for 7 days a week... what they complaining about? Seriously though... I'd be curious how they investigated this... maybe other employees wanted to keep their job too much to complain? Who knows... but if the guy was NOT exaggerating, this is bad news for developers...

@(Unverified) Kid, making games is not all fun and games. There is a LOT of work to create a single game.

How about reading the rest of the paragraph? you'll notice that after the statement, i said "Seriously though"...
I am a developer, and I've had occasional 12-14 hour days and it sucks bad! I would not want to do it 2-3 days a week, much less 7. As I said above, I'm curious how they investigated this and claim that they didnt find any wrongdoing...

I don't know what you guys are talking about, Gameloft is a respectable company that develops many original IPs.
Now i must get back to my work. If High-Lord Ahkrylthc (Bless him and May his hearts beat for eternity) finds out i've been posting on the internet instead of continuing to write code for "NOVA 2: MASTER in CHIEF", my ration of high protein food jelly will be delayed by 3 days.
Good Day and remember to wear your sunscreen, sunlight burns even on overcast days.

Good lord, if you don't like your job, quit. I don't get why people go whining to the government like little pansies. Believe it or not, there's lots and lots of people who would love to have an opportunity to work a few 80 hour weeks, instead of scraping by on a welfare check.

Breaking news! Government agency is slow and inefficient! Uses Gameloft's own books and comes to the conclusion that nothing was wrong! Shock horror!
The NZ games industry is very, very small, and we all know what Gameloft does, it's no secret. They can keep their shitty work ethos out of my country, tyvm.

Im glad they were proven innocent to these claims......now maybe they should force them to 14 hour shifts, 7 days a week......we might just get some original idea's from them.....double jeopardy!......just saying
