That's how I'm going to quantify userbase from now on. By the total amount of blood all users have.

The total amount of Blood of PSPGo users could fill about 3 litter boxes. Neat-o

@jph89 Hey, the PSP Go was a good system. Most people just couldn't just appreciate it because Sony flaked out on their promise to have every single game release on UMD also released on PSN after the Go was released. Also, because it couldn't play UMD's. And was a shitload more expensive.

PSP Go is actually amazing if you have CFW on it, and make backups of your UMD's with second PSP that has an UMD drive. It is actually portable size, has best screen and you can plug it into TV and control with a bluetooth controller, like Dualshock 3, and it has integrated 16GB memory. PSN games also transfer over to Vita, as far as I know. PSP Go buyers weren't so dumb after all.

Even without backups, the Go could have been great if PSN had all games.

For me, the dealbreaker was the pricing disparity between games.

I remember, as an example, Untold Legends being $18 on PSN and $4 at Gamestop on UMD.

Not if you're a vampire.

Then it would look like a pool of chocolate pudding. That's if vampires have the same love for blood as Bill Cosby has for a delicious bowl of chocolate pudding. I think that's a fair comparison. Now I have the image of a vampire Bill Cosby in my head. Crap...that happens time to time. >:\

Keep in mind that's account registrations and not paid copies. They hit 4 million paid copies in November.

True but its the same with Angry Birds going off about how many downloads they have reached. At least Minecraft they have to take the extra step of registering for an account :P

My personal favorite game 2011. Even if it's been in our hands to play for nearly three years now...I've put in over 100 hours in the past couple of months. It was my favorite game that was released this past year.

@Crimsic I'm the opposite. I put 250 in terraria, nearly 300 on shogun 2, over 400 in a few MMOs a piece (over years of course) but minecraft couldnt keep me entertained for some reason

I only put 75 hours into terraria. I use to put that into minecraft every week or two - and I've been playing since 1.2 or so

I still haven't tried Terraria, but I recently found a revitalized interest in Minecraft because I decided to start up a server for my girlfriend and friends. Fun times are had.

i havent played MC in ages, lost interest a long time ago, it happens. I can tell you that i easily put i dedicated all of 2010 to it. Easily over 500 hours. This was during the 1.3 and 1.4 i think. Before the piston update.

Glad I bought it a month and a half ago. I'm going to buy it on the 360 when it comes out, too.
My only gripe is that the new 1.1 update suddenly changed my survival server's forest/lakes into the taiga (snowy) biome and ice rinks.

Yawn.....registered users != paying users. In fact, notice how Notch doesn't post how many distinct registered accounts they have? Nothing stops one person from registering multiple free accounts.

They keep trying to distract us with the registered user count because the paying user count has barely moved since release. It has definitely flatlined when compared to beta days.

Ummm... just a couple of minutes after he tweeted the 20 registered users he tweeted that 23.23% of those users bought the game. He's not trying to hide anything.

Man it must be fun making stuff up, huh? Minecraft hit the 4M paid users in December, after it's release. It currently sits at right 4.7 million. In just about a month it gets 650K-700K new sales? That's pretty damn good for a game that's been around for 2 years.

Wow, the fact that all Minecraft users only add up to a quarter of the Pyramid of Giza seems pretty piss poor to me. That pyramid must weigh a lot more than I thought it did.

Which isn't to say Minecrafts sales are piss poor - they are awesome

@jackdan594

Well the density of a small pile of humans are almost equal to 1000kg/cu.m. The density of limestone however is equal to 2611kg/cu.m.

If you were to physically stack up all the registered minecraft users in a giant pile (naked of course as clothes add more weight) then the size of that pile would be two thirds the actual size of the pyramid of giza. That still might not sound that impressive but it makes it about the same size as the pyramid's of sneferu which are the third largest.

TL;DR a pile of minecraft users = third largest pyramid.
