New Soulcalibur 5 trailer shows online lobby system
16
Soul Calibur 4's online VS. modes were adequate from a netcode perspective, but like most fighting games they lacked any sort of well-developed lobby or chat system. SoulCalibur 5, on the other hand, will allow spectators to chat about matches as they happen, as seen in this latest trailer.

Where the fu7k is Talim!? I don't remember her dying in the storyline and she must me a full fledged woman by this time. Namco blew it.

@SilverPR Agreed. They have excluded my two favorite characters-Talim and Cassandra. Neither of them should be too old to fight.

I don't think we have seen the full roster yet. However, the fact that they have not shown either of those two characters does not give me high hopes for the remaining slots :/

The boob physics are strong with this one. They might as well blow in the wind.

@tehtimeisnow 3d fighters and 2d fighters are two completely different beasts. You're entitled to your opinion but if you don't like Soul Calibur so much why even post?

Text chat? Why do we need that when voice chat is the standard for all online games now?

I'm surprised that you haven't noticed; a lot of people prefer not to use their mics. Look DOA 4 for example, some of those people can spend hours typing up conversations with their avatars.

Wow, really Joystiq? No offense, but have you guys played SCIV online? The netcode was terrible and games were filled with a crap-ton of lag. In fact, if you cruise around the net (various forums, sites, etc.), you can find actual fan made "guides" meant to provide methods to compensate for the lag (such as GI timing adjustments) and how to have semi-competitive battles online.
All I am hoping for is Namco to focus on this series and provide a solid online experience.

@Master Kenobi
yeah it was pretty laggy
it seems like any action or fighting game just doesn't work well online
only hit-scan FPS games and RPGs can work
