You guys need an editor. I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be a douche, but seriously. Please.

@SMan2099 I just glanced over this article, not interested enough to look for flaws. Why do they need an editor?

Going for a different editor here... I think an editor for the game would be nice even if it's as simple as the one from Timesplitters, which isn't a bad game.

Lastly how about an edit button for the comments?

@Prakras TCys

"Obviously, running on the CryEngine means Nexuiz looks a lot better than Quake 2, but even that series' aesthetic has come along for the ride, with intricate wall fixtures and tons of gratuituous textures and reflections placed on maps full of ramps, teleporters, and lines of shield power-ups and the game's nine various weapons."

@Acosta02 Well, this is embarrassing. I still don't see what the problem is.

@Prakras TCys

Well, for one thing, the paragraph I posted has a pretty obvious typo in it (gratuituous). But more important than that is the structure of this paragraph. It's one very long sentence that tries to do the work of three or four. The end result is an opaque run-on sentence. Especially offensive are the prepositional phrases stacking up on one another at the end of the sentence: "with... on... of... of..."

tl;dr: if you can't read your sentence out loud in one normal breath, then it needs a rewrite.

@Prakras TCys its called learning the proper use of grammar. If Joystiq didn't consider itself a professional gaming blog then it wouldn't matter.

@Acosta02 Thanks for clarifying, Acosta. I thought "gratuitous" was spelled wrong, it just didn't seem like that big of a deal to me. I can see the ostensibly run-on quality of the sentence, at least, but that said I also don't think it was that big of a deal. Then again, I've always had a problem creating sentences with brevity.

Never heard of this game before, but I'm excited now. The whale completely sold it.

dont see how it brings the twitch back when its a console shooter. having any kinda of twitch with a controler is impossible when u have aim assist and the crapy slow movement.

@(Unverified) it means this particular style, fast paced style. Console shooters have broken into the call of duty and halo mold more than anything, so they aren't really as fast paced as games used to be.

No PC release?
Understandable, I guess, the old free version might hurt sales, but last I checked it didnt have many players.

You cannot have twitch gameplay with a controller.

This is going to fail so miserably. They're trying to blend water and oil.

@Dooliss I'm sorry, what are you complaining about? The fact that I made a factual statement? The controller interface does not allot said twitch gameplay. It just isn't possible. Anybody with a brain knows that.

The free PC version is at http://www.xonotic.org

Xonotic split from Nexuiz after this XBLA game was announced, many of the Nexuiz developers thought developing a closed-source XBLA game in secret was an abuse of their trust and a misguided continuation of the game they had worked on for years.

Worth checking out, has a lot of interesting changes and unifies Nexuiz's strange art style.

I already screw up titles anyways, like GTA San andreas, Medievil, Ico (Apparently its more like Echo or someshit) - I even screw up Logitech :P

Day one purchase for me, I don't even care if it ends up being unbalanced or unfun, i'm supporting any FPS that is face paced, insanely chaotic arena base twitch skill crazyness. Screw this modern day slow paced 'realistic' non-sense. I want 'Freedom-of-movement' . So I Support this fully.

Excited as hell.

Also, yeah, you guys need to take a look at some of the writing--it feels awkward to read. Not that Mr. Schramm is a bad writer, but for instance, the first paragraph lacks really vivid language and flow, and as such comes off less exciting and interesting as a result.

I was a big Nexuiz player back in it's open source days, and even built a few maps for it. EXTREMELY fun game back then, but there is simply no way this game is going to translate to console/controller and still be even remotely similar to the original. Nexuiz was so fast/twitchy that it make Quake III Arena look slow in comparison. The only other game nearly as fast was Warsow. I'm not one of those guys who thinks that all FPS games suck on console, but there is simply no way you are going to convince me that a twitch shooter of this speed would work on a controller.
