If Amazon ever gets hacked I may as well just leave the internet.

@Jameseh You'd never know. Maybe they just didn't reveal it like others yet?

Following GAME's (appalling) new website launch last year, they've just been a catalogue of errors. I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out they have been hacked, and do store passwords unencrypted.

I just reset my GAME password, the first time I've even visited the website in about 5 years.

@Dick Socrates

Even though I did change it, I'm not so worried about my GAME account password, there's not a lot they could do as I don't have any cards saved or anything. It's more that I'm not sure if I used those login details elsewhere. No where important, I hope!

The thing that annoys me is that everytime something like this happens, the company always rolls out with ' The security and confidentiality of our customers' data is always of the highest importance to us'. Which seems to be corporate code for 'We are very annoyed this has happened, because it's shown up our lax security and now we have to pay for P.R to help make things look better'.
Also annoying: The same way that in the foodservice industry 'fresh' can now be interchanged with 'crap' to translate the marketing in real terms.

Well I used it once to order Xenoblade, I didn't make an account or anything, so theoretically my information wouldn't have been saved anywhere, right?

But yeah, their recent redesign was a huge mess, although it wound up working in my favor once I got it all dealt with. 2 copies for the price of almost none, I think I was out 10 dollars for two 60 euro bundles.

@RenegadePanda
Yeah the new site isn't as good as the old one.

How can you order something without an account O_o

@iceytoa1

I checked out as a guest, although my order was placed on the old style site (apparently) and fulfilled on the new style. I never made a username or password, so I could only look up the order through the order number.

They basically let me order something that wasn't in stock, then 4 weeks later and enough bitching to the right people, they told me that, then suddenly found one and shipped it to me.

I don't live in the UK so I have no real need to go back to GAME until Last Story and Pandora's Tower release in the UK.

The pastebin email addresses have been traced to a Polish site from over a year ago, and are nothing to do with Game.

Why is this story being published after at least the Game reference has been soundly debunked as a hoax?

Joystiq: "GAME's customer database breached"
GAME: We weren't hacked, bro!

Shitty journalism or shitty PR department. I'm leaning towards Joystiq whoring itself out for clicks.
