Good, I LOVED Space Marine and feel it got shafted by a low metacritic showing.

Having rented and played through the majority of it, I think the 70s was a fair range for it. The production values are tight and the setting is fun, but there are minor frustrations throughout and the game is not what I'd consider deep.

Also, hearing "SPACE MARINE!!!" literally every minute was not a positive.

It wasn't a bad game but the combat was kind of samey throughout the whole thing.

@Faceless Troll Agreed, the combat did get monotonous.

Also they really need to fire the designer who thought it was a good idea to rip-off God of War's melee healing mechanic in a game with lots of ranged weapons and none of Kratos' chain-based abilities to pull yourself to distant opponents. Needing to run up to a foe in order to heal was just plain stupid.

I thought the healing mechanic was fun until confronted with either of the following:
a) Being tasked with two of the big melee Orks that you can't immediately stun-execute, while my health was near zero
b) Fighting mobs of Orks and not being able to break my own combo long enough to destroy the annoying suicide bomber creatures pouring after me

yeah I hated that Squigs were so damn powerful and didn't blow up untill they reached you. Squigs should've had a range limit.

@MJD8000 none of these design choices hampered my enjoyment. I had a blast with it. No aggregated review score can speak to how an individual will receive a game. Metacritic is an arse.

Hell, I'm not trying to argue against your satisfaction of the game. If you enjoyed it - which I did too, to a lesser degree - then that's freakin' awesome.

It's unfortunate that the uDraw tablet bombed so badly on 360 & PS3. It works pretty well and the Pictionary game they released for it is pretty fun, especially with a good group.

Every publisher deserves a second chance. I feel SR: The Third may have suffered, sales-wise, from pre-judgements skewing its identity, those "pre-judgements" being "THQ delivers mediocre grub".

They're getting better. We need to allow them further improvement, in the end.

@Shadowbender

Saints Row didn't exactly suffer--preorders were 4x higher than SR2, plus it had triple the sell-throughs of SR2. It's done extremely well, and they've already announced SR4. I think the aforementioned uDraw fiasco is more to blame for this conjecture, but I do heartily agree they deserve a chance.

I find it odd that they are "planning" their own departure. If things are really as bad as they say, then why don't they try to get a buyer RIGHT NOW instead of waiting till the last minute?

And who knows, things might perk up in a few years. Anything can happen, they can't plan this stuff.

I hope that THQ is not in too much financial trouble because the more game publishers are out there the better it is for everyone since there is more competition.

But then the market gets oversaturated with tons of games that won't sell because there are TOO MANY CHOICES.

Same thing with the car industry.

Quality over quantity.

I LOVE having too many choices. Beats the heck out of having too little choices any day.

Who said we can't have quality and quantity. Of course that's a very optimistic outlook but I think the U.S. videogame market is big enough to support both quality and quantity.

Not likely. There are far too many crap games that are made just so publishers can make a quick buck. Look at most of the games on the Wii, DS, iOS, Android, and other systems.

Shovelware is flooding the market and people are going to get sick of it sooner or later.

@tendoboy1984 You overlook the fact that EA and Activision are vaccuuming up developers left and right. When there are only two publishers left, and it's those two, you might change your tune.

Interesting how he doesn't add "and THQ is not shopping for a potential buyer for it's IP's."

@darkibchworm I really don't know how big sales wise the wwe games are anymore. After about 57 entries it may have run it's coarse for the time being. If I remember right the last one got a meh review and stuff.

If things keep up I could see them taking a hiatus from the yearly wrestling game to focus on their yearly UFC game, which could be its new bread and butter since its the fastest growing sport and they'll probably only get bigger now that theyre partnered with fox.

"darkibchworm"? That and "darkinclown" from someone else the other day... and here I always thought it was easier to deal with than my real name... :p

For what it's worth, WWE 12 holds a 72 on Metacritic - so that's decent, even if it isn't incredible. Sold 350k in its first week and was on track to break a million by the end of 2011. I'd say that's worth the investment for THQ.

The selling thing might have some merit. Their shares were $36 a few years ago, bow they are 66c. Spin that any way you want, but in business, that is the kind of share price drop that often leads to closures or sellings

But it will suck if they are forced to do this, they really have become better recently, and Homefront 2 sounds as if it could be a big game for them, with Crytek developing it.

I hope this isn't true. I love Voliton's output! Be it Saints Row or Red Faction. Sure, their casual games are mediocre but the same could be said about Ubisoft's. They're also willing to take some risks; De Blob, Scribblenaughts, Metro 2033 and Homefront were all decent games that were a bit left field. It's just a shame these great games suffer because dumb people waste their money on the next Cock Of Duty Fifi 0-who gives a rat's ass.

Well if SR4 is going to be anything like SR3 then it would be good to cancel... How can anyone compare SR3 to SR2? What happened to the 3 part story? They combined all three gangs into one and they were as interesting as a brick wall. What happened to the fun activites? They all felt like a chore to complete!

As a huge fan of the Saints Row franchise 3 really let me down, they forgot what made Saints Row good. The crazy side of it was cool but there was serious moments and decent writing which SR3 lacks.

SR3 is outperforming SR2 in almost every way--fiscally and critically--so it would be moronic to "cancel" a sequel. I loved SR2, but I'm also loving this installment. Yes, the story is a bit more outlandish (I agree), but the activities are the virtually the same, and the core gameplay mechanics are vastly improved. To each their own...
