I've got the solution to all your troubles. When in a lobby, DON'T pick Maka Wahu. Hopefully most of the people in said lobby have some decency and good sport and refrain from choosing the track as well. Even if it was fixed, there will always be people who will find a way to cheat themselves out of making effort. The glitch just helps them. It's the magic of online gaming.

Lazy kids these days! Back in my day on Nintendo 64 we had to time jumping off the track just right and get the aim down or you would miss the landing and not skip half of the track in Rainbow Road.

I remember this! So much more of the course was cut off with that though.

For a company that made the most influential games of all time, and continues to make some amazing stuff, I'm often shocked by how much Nintendo just doesn't get it.

I can't believe this. It completely breaks the game. Because of the way they have the track selection set up there are ALWAYS a few cheaters constantly picking this track, so it ends up being one of the most played and us normal people must suffer through it constantly.

It's so nice of them to not patch it because it might create an unfair advantage to earlier users...

If you plan on lying, don't make it so blatant.

Thia is exactly why I don't think Wii U will capture the core gamer this generation(or is it next?). They are so far behind from a network stand point it isn't even fit.. Do they think casual gamers find friend codes and unglithable bugs appealing? I really don't get it..

it's amazing how gamers who pay to play are much better at finding bugs in the gaming code than professional game testers. if i was a game producer and saw bugs like this slip through the QA department, I'd go and fire every one of them.

but then again, how do gamers find these glitches???

Well, in this case I think it just took someone hitting that little puddle of water, getting ported onto the map nearly a lap ahead, and going "Oh shit just got real."

Who wants to bet the Wii U won't have true online with dedicated matchmaking, etc? I love Nintendo but they always seem to be playing catch up ever since the N64....

@sergio78246 Yeah, they're gonna have to sell a lot more units in Japan to catch up to the Vita's astronomical sales.

Well, that sucks. I'll be sure not to pick the course. If I see it come up, I'm DCing as well. I'm against exploits of any sort in my online gaming. :D

I mean, I know people bag on Nintendo online, etc, but just because it exists doesn't mean other platforms won't. The 3DS is already taking some nice steps with it on the friends system, so hopefully, it will only get better anyhow.

I find it quite pathetic that it's as simple as patching in some barriers on that section of the Wuhu Island course would stop the glitch from taking place.

Seriously Nintendo, Patching in some barriers aint that hard.

Funny thing. I actually received ghost data through spotpass of a player abusing the glitch to get a fast time.
Without even going on wifi play that would have exposed me to the glitch if I didn't find out about it elsewhere, which is everywhere.

A couple general things:

1. Voting with your money is always good for showing companies how you feel, but be realistic; Mario Kart 7 was the best selling game of 2011 in Japan, and it came out in DECEMBER. So they're probably not too concerned with any individual person's purchase.

2. As others have mentioned, cheat-enabling glitches in online games are nothing new.

3. I think some of you are paranoid. I really don't think Nintendo is out to lie to anyone. I've heard about patches on the 3DS for downloaded games, but not for games on carts. Either way, I'm sure there's a reason for it. A company doesn't get to this level of prominence by being lazy.

@unknownwarrior33

It wasn't laziness that got them to the level of prominence they have, but there's something to be said for resting on one's laurels.

Nintendo thought they were right with HDTV, they weren't. They thought they were right with ... well, anything online. They weren't.

They'll always make money hand over fist. They don't seem to have the drive to push the envelope anymore.

It's actually kind of sad they still haven't implemented a system in which games can be patched on any of their platforms. They can certainly do better and owe it to their users to do so.

It wouldn't be Mario Kart if you couldn't skip large parts of a track through glitches.

On a semi-related note I miss Feathers.

This is bizarrely similar to the glitch on Peach's Castle in MK64 that did the same thing.

well I haven't played the game but, from what it sounds like, it's not as bad as beating Mario Kart 64's Wario Stadium in 20 secs, yeah, even without 'shrooms

This brings back memories of my college dorm, playing Mario Kart 64 with buddies and all making a gentleman's agreement that nobody would use the same type of exploit in Wario Stadium. Such agreements didn't always last...
