@Courtney

Wow, just opened up the Metacric scores on this, Joystiq's actually being kind to it compared to a lot of other places. As a developer you've gone horribly awry when this review is your "good" review.

I didn’t think the game was Vampire Rain or The Ring: Terror's Realm bad like some reviewers are reporting, but it could have easily benefited from another four to six more months of development.

Game is plagued with screen-tearing, unresponsive command inputs, clunky controls and gaming inbalances (don't even get me started on the checkpoint/save system). Am I the only one who noticed how Lana's voice actress’s English accent would blur in at times?

The game has good ideas, but were implemented poorly. There are some good moments (the production quality is fairly decent for a digital downloadable title), but the bad heavily outweighs the good.

Also agree with the end result. I can't just seem to fathom why there was so much massive pre-hype from the developers, only for the game to come up feeling so empty in the end. My only rationing is that it was rushed.

Overall, I didn't feel completely ripped off plunking down ten bucks for the game (the game's playable). However, I would have had I had to shell out $15.00. Several of Amy's issues can be remedied with a patch, but with the developer's recent "The game's only hard" remarks, I wouldn't hold my breath.

@nerdquestLana's voice was a bit unstable... why don't they just get voice actors that have the right accent for the characters... if they can't get someone who can actually do accents so it sounds right to anyone playing

@nerdquest

What I don't understand is, why was there a big rush to get this to market quickly, if it seems so unpolished?

Was this company beholden to crazed greedy investors?

Too bad, I was really looking forward to this game... Flashback is one of my favourite games. Although I Fade to Black was HORRIBLE, so maybe Cuisset simply don't know how to make 3D games...

Ahh the classic "Ignorant without IGN" comment very original sir, kudos to you. Well if it's getting terrible reviews from other places too than it has to be pretty bad. That's all I was saying with my original comment. And I'm not even one who makes my purchase decisions off of reviews. But I've seen a few gameplay videos too and it looks like it plays terrible

So now that Joystiq rated this game low, you're going to make fun of Joystiq? At least play the game instead of watching videos of it before making fun of reviews. As IGN and Joystiq stated... one of the reasons for the low scores is that the controls are awkward, something that you can't experience from just watching videos.

I REALLY want to play this one too but...the reviews are way too consistently negative...I really like survival horror but this one seems to be too terrible by any standard.

You didn't like the game Richard? It's because you're not hardcore enough and must not like difficult games! The developers at Amy recommend you change the settings to EASY!

That will surely fix all your criticisms!!!!!

Does this seem like the kind of game that could get the Hydrophobia Pure / Prophecy or Alone in the Dark: Inferno update treatment and at least recapture some of the initial promise, or is it just that broken?

Everything you've said could have easily been explained in a few lines of dialogue. Still doesn't explain why the fence is still sparking. Also, had the game been good, I would have let it slide without giving it another thought.

I really wanted to get this and check it out -- maybe the developer could do a patch that fixes a LOT of the problems people are having with the game (unless they pull a Hydrophobia and accuse the reviewers of playing it wrong). Even they have, there is a lot they could fix to make it a better game.

You know what's even more pathetic about this? Check out the user reviews, where they spammed some bs positive review all saying it "clocks in at about 5 hours".

Sure, developers user review their own games, but they aren't that blatantly obvious!

I saw the original trailers for the "making" of this and it initially looked promising. That is until I played the demo. It was painful to play. Especially when I got to the part where I found the creepy fat faced cabbie man who hinted that he was a former black ops or ex-mafia or some other such nonsense. Amazing how he just happens to be carrying a DNA scanning device on him just before a zombie outbreak! Then the whole process if obtaining the right DNA was a pain in the behind filled with canned animations you were forced to endure as you went from random location to random location only to conveniently have the VERY last place I look turn out to be the right DNA?

The voice acting was horrible and the visuals rather muddy and dark. Infact I wish I could demand the electricity it cost me to download the demo in the first place! I'm usually sympathetic to developers as a graphic designer myself, but theres no way anyone in their team could have been proud of the shabby work they rushed out. Shame on them!

I bought the game before reading any reviews, and this part did stand out. If I shut the power off to something...then there should, like, be no power n stuff.

A couple of weeks ago high winds made the power go out at my house. Alas, there was not a spark to be found.

this review is totally bullshit. Amy is one of the greatest action-adventure games of my entire gaming life since NES. It's even better than first RE IMO.

it's extremely hard on its difficulty like old PC adventure games but it's really well-thought and provide you different experience for each difficulty.
the level design of Chapter 5 is well-thought and marvellous as a puzzler, zombiefy-ing system is an phenomenal new idea for the genre.
the developer deliberately concealing the details of the background, but it's not 'the Center'. it's 'Pheonix Center'.

I know Amy has major tearing and frame-rate dropping problems. but I don't believe this guy even played the whole campaign. not at least normal difficulty or harder.

Feel free to peruse my Achievements. https://live.xbox.com/en-US/Activity/Details?titleId=1480659488&compareTo=senseiram

Also, Lana refers to it as the Phoenix Center precisely once, at the very beginning of the game, if memory serves. From that point on it's just "the Center." I'm glad you enjoyed the game. There are some good ideas in it, they are just poorly executed.

I played the demo last weekend with my boyfriend. I'd been looking forward to it since I first saw a video of the main character getting all zombie-fied. I thought the concept sounded really cool.

Within the first three minutes I was just laughing. So the little girl has mental problems, can't talk... yet Lana has no problem shoving this poor little thing through crawl spaces. Literally SHOVING HER ONTO THE GROUND AND THROUGH SMALL GAPS. I was laughing so hard. "Get in there, mute girl! GET IN THERE NOW!" Then when Amy flips a switch, you get this brief flash on the screen of her face, looking at you like a dog awaiting a treat. Every. Single. Time. I felt like I shoulda had a lollipop at the ready for Amy every time she pulled off some marvelous trick of FLIPPING A SWITCH.

At one point I left poor Amy in a room (because not only does she need to be physically shoved through gaps, she also needs to be coaxed back through with Reeses Pieces) and ditched her. She was better off.

Sorry, Amy.

I would probably actually buy this game though, assuming PS+ ever offers it incredibly cheap. While it wasn't the greatest thing ever made, I would like to give it another chance. Or at least enjoy shoving Amy into another room and running away, cackling madly while whacking zombies with a 2x4

@Adorialea

I would like to play the full game eventually too but those 2X4s break pretty easily and they don't give you the option of using your fists so whenever you use up the few usable weapons you're pretty much screwed..
