Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance playable at E3 [update: Kenji Saito directing]

While we still think it's too early to get our hopes up, it appears that the new Platinum version of Metal Gear Rising will achieve what the Kojima Productions version never could: a playable demo. In a Famitsu magazine interview summarized by Andriasang, Hideo Kojima revealed that Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will be playable at E3 this year.

As you may have expected, the stealth element is no longer present in Revengeance. In the interview, Platinum CEO Tatsuya Minami said that stealth was the first element to go when Platinum took over. Kojima now says he never wanted stealth in there.

Update: Additional excerpts from the article reveal Bayonetta main programmer Kenji Saito as Rising's director. Bayonetta director Hideki Kamiya is not involved.

Everybody should watch that really long interview video with platinum and kojipro. It's hilarious how they force the kojipro guys to confess to a botched project, and then it keeps cutting back to Kojima who's all but saying "yeah it was basically trash. Just awful. (trollface)"

It's a great interview. I don't remember Kojima taking responsibility, but he basically says something like, "I let the younger people have at it, and was busy with other stuff, but the I realized we should've had more senior people on the project when I checked in later."

Sounds good... never was a fan of stealth anyways... makes the game too slow...

If you want stealth, go play any other original metal gear solid.

My dream, ever since finishing Act 2 of MGS4, was to BE Raiden as he took down his enemies (including Vamp) in the most otherworldly skill.

yes it is horrible. tell me the new 2011 trailer looks better than the 2010 trailer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKy0-pbGG3w , i don't think anyone can make that statement with a straight face. yes the old team wasn't able to get a playable demo out, but the new engine looks very crappy. i thought so prior to watching the old trailer, then found out the old trailer existed.

it's a freaking shame too because i loved bayonetta.

I agree. It just doesn't fit in with the MG universe. MG has always had some over the top elements, but there was a sense of reality with each game. Revengeance, not so much.

Except for, you know, the fact that they keep showing that "hundred slash" finishing move over and over again and that it looks stupid every time.

Bayonetta was a fantastic game. I'm super excited for this.

I'm out! Pulled out my preorder! They said this was the 1st MG game you can be so stealthy (I'm pro) you could go through the whole game without killing or even k.o the enemy!!! Now it's a hack n slash! Huge money mistake Hideo Kojima!
