And this is why I wait.

I'm still digging through the wasteland of Fallout 3, so I'll probably still wait to pick this up until I feel done with Fallout 3.

@Razer922

I'm glad I picked it up when it first came out, though I didn't finish but plan on going back soon.

Almost done with the Fallout 3 DLC's (finally!), I only liked Broken Steel and Point Lookout. The rest, I can see why people didn't care for them that much...terribly, terribly linear. Mothership Zeta seems like a wasted opportunity to do something awesome with UFO's.

@kentuckyfried The weapons make it barely worth it. If you have Zeta, play it early for the guns.

@kentuckyfried I've played through O:A and The Pitt so far. The completionist in me wants to finish the 100 ingots in the Pitt but that's a lot of ridiculous collecting. :\
And at this point I'm working on sidequests in the base game. I'll probably finish a couple more sidequests, then dig into Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta.
So I have plenty to play through. Meaning when I pick up F:NV Complete, it'll probably be when it's $20 (either by sale or by price reduction over time).

@Razer922 TBH, finding all of the Ingots wasn't that hard. It took me maybe 20 minutes tops. I too thought that it was going to take me forever.

See I planned on doing that for Skyrim since I didn't know if I'd like it or not (never played the series). I had this whole price range in mind and everything. But all that happened was I couldn't get the game out of my head thinking about how long I'm neglecting in trying it.. I broke down and bought it today.

I seriously don't know how you guys do it

Funny enough, I bought this when it was $15 on Steam. I never buy the DLC unless it's on sale, and I got a majority of it for like, $2 - $3. Does that mean I beat the system? Do I get a cookie?

It was a timed exclusive for the 1st DLC Dead Money, so the answer to your question is yes it is included on all platforms.

@ShivanSwordsman I suppose it does, if you're a PC player. Personally, I prefer to play exploration-heavy titles on my 360 so that's another part of why I wait.

Nowhere near the level of iconical quality compared to Fallout 3, but I think you're being a bit harsh. New Vegas succeeded on many levels in rather compelling ways.

But still, Fallout 3 IS the title I prefer.

Fallout: New Vegas was more to the Fallout roots than Fallout 3 ever was.

Bethesda should keep Obsidian as the developers for the Fallout series. A lot of the people at Obsidian were part in the original development of Fallout and Fallout 2.

Bethesda then should just focus on developing Elder Scrolls games.

I disagree. I think Bethesda should do a Fallout 4, not Obsidian. I liked a lot of New Vegas but it didn't hold the immersion factor that Fallout 3 maintained throughout the entire game (at least for me). I actually felt emotion when I killed or saved a character. Sounds lame, but Fallout is the only game that's ever done that for me.

@Special Agent Steve Fallout 3 was really fun to just run along the roads once you'd done everything else. Exploring the cities and such had a nice feel. But everything else about Fallout 3 felt like a B movie. Awful plot, lots of raiders and super mutants but tiny survivor settlements (that weren't that defended). Fallout 3 is superior to NV (for me) only when you're dicking around. New Vegas was an amazing engine in a fun setting (that felt too bland in the settlements, but felt more like a world than F3 ever did).

I hope Obsidian stays on because their characters and their plot were 100 times better than "your Dad left the vault and told you not to follow him. Follow him." and the forgettable characters that could follow you. But I know that, no matter whoever (Bethesda or Obsidian) makes Fallout 4, it'll be a day one buy for me and it will absorb 300+ hours of my life like the other 2 did.

@xiLeShadow I agree. For those here that played Fallout 1/2, and probably very few, you'll appreciate New Vegas for having so many references to those games. It even has elements of Black Isle's canceled Fallout 3 so New Vegas holds a special place in my heart and is superior to 3, IMO.

They are both good games but FO3 had the better story, more memorable locations and more likeable characters, imo.

FO:NV felt a bit like Bioshock 2 - something to pass the time while we wait for the inevitable Fallout 4.

@Xero Theory Save often and rotate game saves (so if there is a glitch you don't lose hours of gameplay) and you'll be just fine. There are times it bugs out in strange ways (sometimes funny, sometimes annoying) but so much of the game is fun (provided you like that style of gameplay) that you can look past the bugs.

So, can anybody comment on the DLC generally for NV? What's good, what's bad, which one is worth buying? I'm not completely convinced about re-buying this entirely.

The DLC that seems worth grabbing is "Old World Blues", the trailers for the others ones didn't pique my interest as much.

Let's see. Dead Money was a good idea, but poorly executed because of the several ways you can instantly die. Honest Hearts was dull. Old World Blues is just insane, and is totally worth it. Lonesome Road is just exposition, really. And GRA is just a weapons pack with some new challenges thrown in. Overall, the DLC is not worth it, besides from Old World Blues.

And this is why I waited for something like Steam's holiday sale. I paid 16 dollars for all of the DLC, including the Courier's Stash and Gun Runner's Arsenal. A lot better than the 50 they are asking for it.

Though admittedly if all of the DLC comes on a seperate disc like it did with the GOTY Fallout 3 I would probably still buy it...

New Vegas is a fantastic game and in my opinion, the true Fallout 3 since it actually carries on the spirit and feel of the original games. Not only that, the DLC is fantastic and well written.

I'd love to play Fallout 3.

I'd love to play Fallout: New Vegas.

I'd love to play Skyrim.

but alas, I own a PS3, and the games are not as stable as they should be. I don't want to invest hours of my life into a game and risk not being able to finish it... it's just not worth it.

I see a lot of posters who recommend the "always wait for the ultimate edition" strategy on here. Why? You waited all this time since launch to play it for $50. I waited until the V1 run of the game dropped to $18, then bought the DLC when it recently went 50% off. That's roughly $40 total and I didn't have to wait. Similar outcomes result with other titles. Where is the benefit of waiting a lot longer to pay a little more for the same content?

I understand people like to have things sooner rather than later. However, it's a foolhardy endeavor at best. Especially for a single player game.

The vast majority of these games will be the same five years from now that they are new. The only thing changing here is the price.

If the game is worth playing, it's worth waiting for. If you can just wait one year, and buy nothing. One year of digging into your backlog and playing all those great games you've already paid too much for...

You can simply pick up purchasing games where you left off a year prior. They'll all be $20 and they'll all be just as good as the day they came out.

The end result. I get to buy more games than you.

Yeah, you buy more games that way but you don't save any money. I would know. I've got unopened boxes of games lying on my shelf that I snatched at a sale price and probably won't play for a few years to come. Being a CAG is hard work

I love how games these days have complete collections released. Remember when you could buy a game brand new and enjoy it now, rather than today's thing of regretting later that you bought it when it was popular instead of waiting for the game plus the rest of the game to all be released.

how about the people who don't have live or ps network that also get like two decent games a year, I mean I'm getting this the day it comes out because I crushed 3 and have nothing else at all to play. I plan to buy three games this year for certain FO NV, Borderlands 2, and of course Resident Evil 6 and those games will last a very long time for me.
