Resident Evil 6 announced by Capcom, arriving November 20 on 360/PS3 with PC version later
199
Resident Evil 6 is heading to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on November 20, 2012, with a PC release to follow, says Capcom. In it, returning favorites Leon S. Kennedy (the "S" stands for "Superhair") and Chris Redfield (tree arms from RE5) will play co-leads, each leading his own campaign through the US and China, respectively. The brand new trailer is just above.
Any of this sound familiar? That's probably because the next entry in the Resident Evil series was outed a bit earlier than its publisher expected this afternoon, when images of RE6 marketing were sent to IGN by a Gamestop employee. Subsequently, a flood of details about the unannounced game were unleashed by a couple different outlets regarding its gameplay, dev team, and characters.
Many of said details have been re-confirmed by Capcom in its own press release, though it's lacking in the specificity we reported earlier. The trailer, however, depicts a new martial-artsy character fighting various ... things (and people), some splashes of cover-based shooting, and a presidential zombie. And is that Ashley? Three words: Oh. Em. Gee.

Even though we are getting the "later" treatment i´m happy for this. This means that CAPCOM is making money on the p.c. market and hopefully more companies will jump to the opportunity of getting more money by developing a game for all the platforms, i´m sure steam has a good amount of credit for this.........

@Timjoy,
Oh crap! I just figured something out!
Ashley gets wounded! (or dies!)
Look at 2:07 (notice her whool jacket hoodie part thingy on her shoulders!)
Then look at 2:56! (its what appears to be Ashley holding her hand out with blood!)
OMG! NOOO!!! ASHLEY CAN'T DIE!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

@ottoman673 Go ahead and downvote me, but the third-person gameplay looked almost exactly similar, down to the cover system and running. I didn't say it was a bad thing..

@ottoman673 Gears of Wars was inspired by RE4. Nice way to embarrase yourself for not knowing something so simple from something that you really like and trying to use that to beat on others. NOOB.

@(Unverified) Lol, so you're telling me RE4 had a 'Press A to Cover' system?
Aside from the over-the-shoulder perspective, which has been seen in MANY games, RE4 [which i have played, AND loved] bears almost no resemblance to the original Gears of War.
Back off, fanboy. Again. Never said it was a bad thing.

@ottoman673 Gears of War stole its mechanics from WinBack: Covert Operations.

"Bleszinski said the seeds of Gears of War were sown by three titles. The first was Capcom's Resident Evil 4, which made an indelible impression on Bleszinski even before its January 2005 release. "I really liked the pacing and the over-the-shoulder view," said the designer. "

I'm just going to assume your comment is a joke... but those who are too young to remember the PS2 there were several games to use the cover mechanic... Kill. Switch was probably the most successful... and the game GOW borrows the most from in terms of mechanics.
Anyway I was one of the many who didn't like RE5 because you couldn't shoot and move at the same time... I'm very happy they've finally added mobility to the RE franchise.

Star Wars: Republic Commando had "Press A to Cover" way back in early 2005. Can I declare Gears of War looks like Republic Commando reskinned with generic muscly guys and lizard-like aliens then?

The cover system of GOW was taken from Kill. Switch... but the over the shoulder camera was taken from RE4... this was said directly by Cliffy B in this interview http://www.gamespot.com/news/6167213.html?action=convert&om_clk=latestnews&tag=latestnews;title;0

@ottoman673 You do know they already said when they were making gears of war, it was first person cover system, then they looked at Resident Evil 4 and other games like it and went forth and made Gears of War 1? They've said it in numerous interviews. Look it up before acting like you know what you're talking about. :D

@ottoman673 Yeah I thought most people knew that Gears was more inspired by Kill Switch than RE4. The camera was about the only thing they borrowed from RE4. Honestly I have no problem with the way this is looking, but I hope they put some quiet scary moments in there too. They need to be looking at Dead Space to see how you balance action and horror.

No it wasn't. It looks like a mixture of bad movies into one whole game. Do not want.

@Mustang Fanboy i like the approach they are going with this. survival horror/ fast paced 3rd person shooter and whats cool is they're separate. leon's is survival horror, chris is fast paced and the new guy is both combined

@GroundControl2MT I dont get what horror everyone keeps talking about.
Silent Hill, Clocktower, and Fatal Frame were horror. RE was always campy B movie style. Unless everyone was scared by the crows in RE1's first 5 minutes, then dear lord.

I dunno, the first time i saw that first zombie cutscene... the first time the dogs jumped through the window in the side hall...
I pissed my pants pretty good. They had some VERY tense moments in RE1. I miss those days.
Action is not a substitute for suspense.

That was mostly because of the crappy graphics. Since everything was much more unrealistic on both the visuals and movements, it all made everything go further down the uncanny valley, making them much scarier then all these pretty photo-realistic monsters we see today on most games.
