Grand Theft Auto 3 and GTA: Vice City rated by ESRB for PS3

The ESRB has rated crime epics Grand Theft Auto 3 and Vice City for the PlayStation 3. Considering the blockbuster third entry in the series is available on iOS and Android, word of it coming to the PS3 isn't the craziest news we've heard about the classic title in recent memory.

The third entry in the GTA3 series, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, still doesn't have a PS3 listing from the ESRB, so we aren't sure if it's just cruisin' in later for a drive-by or part of what's likely Rockstar adding the two other games to PSN for digital distribution. Of course, if you own a first-gen PS3, your system is backwards-compatible and should have no issue playing the original PlayStation 2 discs (chances are you already own them).

@Gibbeynator I wouldn't doubt that they are HD updates but more the standard "Must Play" PS2 titles like God Hand and stuff.

Considering it only lists PS3, I am willing to bet they are PS2 classics.

@Gibbeynator yeah I don't think they would make these HD unless they were also going to be on XBL.

These are probably PS2 Classics but I hope that it could be an HD Collection. I would love to replay these in HD and receive trophies. San Andreas has to be included as well.

If these are in fact PS2 Classics, I hope the Vita will eventually support them. I would love to play these on the go if possible.

Come on R*. You delayed MP3. You can at least deliver us a GTA HD Collection this year.

PC = HD already? You should be able to play it already, but I've can't even launch GTA3 and VC that I bought from GFWL :'( I have to pirate it and play it.

I hope this is a HD collection. Imagine the bonus content... a Vice City dynamic theme would be great.

PLEASE, R* make this an HD, Disc-based Vice City!!! One of the best games of ALL TIME deserves this treatment.

Everytime I think of San Andreas and then look at GTA4, I get anrgy.

I mean SA had good characters GTA4 theres nothing, SA had interesting locations GTA4 none.

It was one massive yawn, and the god damn awful blur didnt help either.

Wasnt a fan of Vice but clearly Im the exception on that one

@McPo Seriously man gta4 would be great if you never played San Andreas. And people arguing that gta4 is better are probably kids born in 2000s who never tried San Andreas, and refuse to play it has " bad graphics".

@airtoast My 60gig died at the end of October, this past year... Had to get a Slim, and so my PS2 games sit and collect dust...

So uh SONY, since it looks like you're releasing some pretty sweat PS2 games on PS3 now... I would REALLY love it if you would release the first two SOCOM games in HD or even just PS2 classics with online play.

@Taywah SOCOM!!!!! That would be awesome. Though no HD, as most of the HD games they screw up. Just a port with online play. The best online FPS game ever.

So depressed that Zipper had that abortion of a Socom game come out. I thought for sure they would get back to the winning equation.

Hopefulley this will be a hd collection. Vice city is one of my all time favourite games.

Seriously, if its just a port...I will be sad.

I already got all three for my Xbox 360. I have one of the slim PS3's that won't play PS2 games so really fi these are not in HD and don't include trophies I have no incentive to get them.

Actually, I'd even buy a non-hd version with trophies.

My dear lord I would love to platinum all of the PS2 era GTA's.

I wish they'd actually be full remakes using the GTA4 engine or whatnot. I can already play them in "HD" on a PC. But its still a good chance for other gamers as long as the price is right.

I thought the (original) Xbox version of Vice City was the best-looking. Such groovy lighting effects!

I think without this being HD and with trophies, it won't sell many units.

Last time I checked socom was a TPS.

It's probably just the PS2 versions nothing more. But if Rockstar did release an HD collection, I would get it having never beaten these games before. But if they just release them on PSN as PS2 Classics, I would pass as I got them on Steam for $7 with GTA 1 & 2.

Nope, played Vice city and could only be bothered to ride around on my bike and listen to the 80s station until they played Michael Jackson or Luther. Played 4 and hated the protag too much

I thought 4 was great even though I have San Andreas. I knew going into the game (because Rockstar said it themselves) that the game was going to focus more on realism than San Andreas did. If you went into 4 expecting otherwise, obviously you'd be disappointed.

Rockstar should go out of their way to release HD renditions of the original GTA3 trilogy. New gamers are coming into play who haven't had the chance to experience these classics and the nostalgia factor would guarantee financial success.

HD remakes of GTA and GTA2 for XBLA and PSN would also be fabulous! I miss GTA2 on the original Playstation.

Please let them do an HD remake of San Andreas!!
