Angry Birds catapulting to Facebook on Valentine's Day
28
Mirroring the plans of every bitter, lonely soul the world over, Rovio will be filling Facebook with anger come Valentine's Day. Granted, Rovio's February 14 release of Angry Birds for the social-networking site will be quite a bit different from the vitriolic bile we'll be spewing as a projection of our own debilitating loneliness, but both activities do involve throwing things and impassioned rants about how things didn't go as planned.
In addition to leaderboard support, the Facebook version of Rovio's darling will feature "higher quality animation" to take advantage of the game's full-screen capabilities. It will also include power-ups, which come in familiar bird flavors as well as more divine abilities, such as triggering earthquakes on command. Power-ups can either be earned in-game or purchased for $0.99, but you'll never be able to buy your way back into her heart. Please come back, Susan.

@Timjoy I agree, it's a really fun game with clever level design.

They make a game with 1 mechanic that has had its fair share of usage over time and created hundreds of levels based on that one mechanic.

Maybe I'll finally try this game to see what all the hype among the casuals is about - nah - I'd rather stare at the wall than play this ripoff of the Newgrounds catapult games.

Angry Birds is such an overrated, "been-there-done-that" series of prime mediocrity. I really don't understand why it's so popular.
Also, Android and iOS games suck in general. Anyone who thinks that Android/iOS is the future of mobile gaming is delusional. Touch screen controls without buttons = fail. Also, these mobile games have no depth. I'll stick to Nintendo and Sony, who actually make mobile games worth playing, on hardware that is MADE for gaming.
ACTUAL portable game platforms get the likes of Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Advance Wars, Chrono Trigger, Kirby, Pokemon, Contra, WipEout, God Of War, Jack & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, Silent Hill, Tactics Ogre, etc. etc. while those who claim that iOS/Android are the future of mobile gaming are stuck with Angry Birds and Cut The Rope. LOL. Right. Like anyone will ever take that seriously. Go home.

Just to add to what I said about Angry Birds...
The premise of the game is old as dirt. This type of game has been done COUNTLESS times before. It is nothing new or revolutionary. Get over it. Its just another mediocre flash game, basically.
From http://www.technobuffalo.com/technobuffalo/opinion/please-shut-up-about-angry-birds-point-and-counter-point/
1. Play Castle Clout and Crush the Castle
2. Copy
3. Paste
4. Skin with Upset Birds and Pigs
5. ?????????
6. Profit!

It's popular because it's perfect for portable touch screen gaming. It works flawlessly with touch screen, which is something many games don't do. You can pick it up and play in quick sessions, which is also perfect for portable gaming. It also sells for $1 and has been continually supported since its release with free updates... which is a far and away better than most other games these days.
In general I agree that touch screen games are not as deep as games on portables by Nintendo or Sony, but that's not really necessary for most people. The reason the iPhone and Android games are so popular these days is most people are fine with shallow quick pick and play games in a portable setting. That's all many people have time for in these settings. Plus, they are like 1/40 the cost of games on the other platforms. If you get a terrible one it barely matters, you only spent $1 on it.
And, yeah, AG is not original. But it's not always about being first, it's about execution. I've played those other games. In fact, Crush the Castle is on iOS, but has been *ahem* crushed by AG. Why? AG is a better game. Plain and simple.
