First Blood wasn't a hyperbolic action film.

The fact that there has been no mention of EXPO '86 concerns me. To set a game here in Vancouver during that milestone year and leave out the biggest event in Vancouver history would be such an epic fail. I want to run away from zombies on "Highway '86."

Interesting that you mention Rambo and DotD seeing as Rambo was the exact type of movie that Romero was commenting on with Day. With America in the Cold War, and movies like Rambo glorifying the millitary, Romero wanted to portray the military in a negative light, this is why most of the human characters in the film are worse than the zombies they are fitting. Day is actually my favorite of the Dead trilogy, even though most people find it the worst. The film is just unrelentingly bleak but I think it works in its favor.

Anyway, this game is now on the top of my radar, it sounds really cool!

@esbeekay First Blood glorified the military? PTSD guy goes nuts in the woods is somehow glorifying? I think people are assuming First Blood was like the following Rambo films.. which it was not.

I hate being "that guy," but there is no such movie as "Rambo: First Blood." There is "First Blood," and there is "Rambo: First Blood Part II." One is a thriller, the other is a nearly brainless action film. I'm guessing Jessica meant the original and not the sequel, since the concept of a man alone, sort of in the wilderness is far more in line with "First Blood." That, and it takes place in the Pacific NW.

All that being said, this just instantly went to the very top of my "want to play" list. Yes, Mass Effect 3 included.

@Fawst

Not a flaw in your argument, but a flaw in the naming conventions of the Rambo movies.

If Rambo III follows Rambo: First Blood Part II, then that would assume it is the third Rambo movie. Meaning the first movie in the trilogy was First Blood. That is why some people refer to that movie as Rambo: First Blood.

I always thought Rambo III should have been called Rambo II as it was the second movie to carry the Rambo name. But it was the third movie ABOUT Rambo.

Looks interesting. Definitely happy to hear it has emphasis on the story. Although im not so happy to hear that voice actor. I'm hoping it's just place holder because i dont think i could listen to that man for an entire game.

I hope that their premise approaches reality when the game comes out. If they can even get close to what their goal is, this could be a GOTY level type game for me.

The first sentence has to be one of the longest I've ever read, lol.

First Blood was a Thriller, and a damn good one in my opinion. Of course I was born in 74, so nostalgia may be clouding my opinion.

Deadlight sounds great. I like the premise and the developers passion for it.
