What about PS3? Surely the blu-ray player is much, much slower. ;)

I'm sure we won't have a choice on PS3. Install will probably be mandatory. That's fine by me though.

@drunkingamebar It's possible that there will in fact be a mandatory install on PS3 just like how every other game handles this. The obvious difference is that a HDD is standard on a PS3 and not on 360 so they don't have to say it for PS3.

That's how most games work... Fine by me as well.

@drunkingamebar

I think it has more to do with how the game is compressed, rather than speed of reading it.

Ironic how 360 gamers used to laugh at PS3 gamers when PS3 games needed installation.

And btw, games that have incredible graphics like the Killzone and Uncharted series don't even have and need installation on the PS3.

based on the two demos i came to this conclusion... the PS3 does indeed hiccup more than the 360 version... lots of stuttering and frame droppage, although the PS3 version looks higher resolution (thus a little sharper and cleaner) and isnt frame locked like the 360 (i noticed increased framerate in certain areas which felt weird)

im really torn as to which version ill be picking up... if anyone has more insight as to which is the better version... please let me know.

Personally, I would wait for a head to head comparison before you make a decision. The demo build is presumably months old as it takes a while for demos and such to get certified for xbox live and psn- I wouldn't make any definite conclusions as to performance and graphics. I haven't tried the psn version but will give it a try. Traditionally ive played open world rpgs on my 360 so I may continue that trend if there isn't a substantially superiour version. Performance is going to be the most important factor for me. A game with quick and dynamic combat will benifit from a better frame rate and minimal screen t

well... hmm you make a good argument with the ME3 content... (since i own both 1 and 2 for 360... how can i NOT get the 3rd for the 360 lol that would be dumb) i assumed that the demo unlocked some content? it popped up with a mention of the ME3 custom armor and something else for the full game or am i mistaken and you have to purchase amalur in order to get the unlocks mentioned on the demo?

looked it up and i might just buy Amalur on PS3 (for my trophies... yes im a trophy person rather than achievements)

but the unlocks are available once you complete the demo... so even if i dont get the 360 version of Amalur, i can unlock the 360 ME3 stuff via 360 Amalur demo

I don't want my Xbox trying to escape. That roar from the engine is surely a means for it to return to back Microsoft. Installing is the only way to deter that.

I hate the sound of the optical disc spinning. It's much more calming somehow when it's reading off the HDD.

You're supposed to install all your games- unless you own Alice Madness Returns, because it still spins for some reason.

glad they're making their game with this in mind as most go the other way to the detriment of the player.

looking forward to this one.

Finally downloaded the demo and played it. I got an extremely strong Sudeki vibe from it - I'm probably one of only ten people who owned that on the original Xbox (and still own it actually. I should beat it someday). Lots of fun - definitely going to be picking it up.

The demo was a lot of fun and unlocked mass effect 3 dlc. This generation has had so many more good WRPG's than previous ones. Jrpgs were pretty much a garbage fest with the exception of tales of vesperia and lost odyssey.

Any word on whether or not I can delete the demo and keep the unlocks? It didn't make a save file, i assume it's saved to my GT?

If you have an EA account associate with your live ID email address then your Mass Effect 3 DLC is safe. The Kingdom of Amalore DLC is associate with a different account, I forget which. Personally I"m more concerned with the ME3 DLC.

If Joystiq hasn't mentioned it, the demo is a two month old build that was outsourced from BHG. So it contains lots of bugs that will not be found in the retail version according to devs.

I had the demo completely lock up on me twice also sometimes in the talking scenes one person takes a few seconds to load in. One time I actually ended up talking to a headless gnome for half the conversation.

Well that depends how large the install is. I'm willing to sit through longer load times so I don't have to wait two hours before I can play it.

This game seemed somewhat interesting. I wouldn't pay $65 for it, though the demo did encourage me to buy and try Skyrim. So I thank them for that.

That's a pretty good deal. Like 25%. But I played the demo on both and I think I like PC better. I can wait a couple months for a steam sale. They'll prob cut it in half soon enough.

The demo was actually outsourced to a third party, and some of the glitches and problems were never in the game to begin with. From what I hear, both versions will ship in tip top shape. I did hear something similar to what you said about the slower frame rate on 360, though. Also, don't forget that if you plan on getting mass effect 3 for 360, you'll probably want to get this game for 360 so you can get the dlc unlocks. Unless the dlc is available across all platforms?

Fun little demo. PC version doesn't look all that great, even with all high settings. I have a hard time believe this isn't a console port.

This is basically like playing an MMO, without having to put up with trolls in trade chat and griefers.
