If anything, don't we want something that differentiates itself from COD, since COD is the default arcadey shooter?

Hate to bust your bubble but generally speaking any form of ACTUAL "tactical" shooter requires a little more patience than jumping over 20 fences and blasting every Russian enemy that happens to be inbetween.
I understand that is a personal choice, and I could care less whether you like COD or not (it is a fun game) but realistically speaking if you want every game to be like COD your an idiot out to screw up the rest of the gaming world.

@kentuckyfried Oh, absolutely I want GRFS to be different than COD. Don't confuse what I said. I said that I hope that it's as good(meaning as fun) as COD, not just like it. I hope that the GRFS devs stay as far away from COD as possible. There is no way that I want crap like kill streak rewards in GRFS. I just hope that they get back to their roots, but speed up the action and get rid of the complicated squad commands and hopefully add matchmaking to multiplayer. Basically just make it more fun. The GRAW games were kind of a bore.

I do agree with you that GRAW was boring. A long time ago before I got my ps3, I always wanted to play GRAW 2, then when I finally picked it up at gamestop for one of those buy 2 get one free things, I ended up trading it back in less than a month later.
Game totally sucked balls. Pace was utter shit. I feel like if they could find a reasonable balance between the old Ghost Recons and up the action like you say, then they'd have a great game. By the looks of it it seems they hopefully did in fact do that.

"I was a huge fan of the early Ghost Recon games, but the GRAW series was so slow and complicated that I couldn't get into them at all."
Wait what? The original Ghost Recon games were tactical based and very slow. They were slower than the GRAW series in general.
The GRAW series on PC was a mixture of the old slower first person shooter GR formula and a bit of run and gun elements.
The GRAW series on consoles was much more run and gun and in third person.
Future Solider just looks like a pure run and gun game. They took the console GRAW and made it much faster.
=(

I'm pretty sure it is a mix of both. Mostly third person but switches to first-person when you go to look down the sights. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
Not a full on OTS Third-person shooter.

@TRONdll The early games were FPS only. The more recent games had the option to play either FPS or TPS. Does it really matter, though, if the camera is a couple of feet behind or in front of your character? FPS or TPS, they're all just shooters to me.
