Persona 4 fighter hits Japanese arcades in March

The Japanese console release of Arc System Works' Persona 4-based fighting game is due this summer, but you'll be able to play the game sooner ... if you happen to be near a Japanese arcade or an American arcade that really keeps up.

Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena will hit Japanese arcades in "early March," developer Arc System Works announced today. We're just going to think about this as a very long testing period, so Atlus can get an idea of balance tweaks before announcing the American release of this lovely 2D fighter. Right?

Hopefully a summer japanese console release will mean a North American release by the end of the year.

I really hope they get the original voice actors back. I guess if they are going to localize Golden, then all of P4's cast will need to return for the added content, much like they did for Persona 3 Portable, but stranger things have happened...

Man I wish I was independently wealthy so I could import a Person Arcade cabinet.

This and a Persona 4 remake, got to start saving.

@shankythestabber Is there really a Persona 4 remake coming, I have such a backlog and get distracted with shiny new PS3 games and haven't gotten around to P4 yet. If there is a HD remake coming, I would hold off for that.

Persona 4: the golden is PSvita bound. It's enhanced like the other persona games on the PSP.

I's very high on my too buy list, actually.

As stated it is for the PSVita and it adds a new party member; but I feel you with the so many games so little time thing.

If you are referring to Marie, she is not confirmed to be a party member or even a social link. I'm pretty sure she is NOT a party member, given that she is not around in any of the screens released of later parts of the game (namely the added skiing event).

I remember reading about it somewhere, but maybe I just read wrong. My bad.

@shankythestabber Now worries. Most of the announcements have been announcing that she is a new "character", which for most people would indicate a new party/playable character, when she probably has more to do with added sidestory content (like the new areas and the mopeds).

I was just giving some clarification.

"Arcade"? Never heard of it. Is it a new handheld?

No, they mean Xbox Live Arcade, obviously. Why use the whole name when they can just use the part that is unique and totally original about it?

Microsoft must have signed some sort of exclusive deal.... Though its weird how their releasing it retail a few months later. Must come with a soundtrack CD/art book.

this looks good and i hate rpgs but i love Japanese fighting games.

It's crazy the people still play at Arcades in the age of PS3 and 360.

It's mostly an Japanese thing now. Arcades are all but dead everywhere else.

I NEED this... SO bad... May import.

Looks great, hopefully the learning curve isn't too steep.
