That's awesome! I hope schools take advantage of creative ways like this to get kid's off their asses and getting some exercise. It worked quite well with the Wii in senior communities.

that's a nice effort, DDR is fun and probably some kids will actually like it enough to keep playing it at arcades, as a former PIU speeder, I was in pretty good shape before I left it, but school + work took the best of my time ):

If you wanna be fit, run round a track. I hope this never makes England...

Yes, but if you can't make the kid run around a track enough to lose weight (takes dedication and time), asking him/her to play a video game instead might go over a lot better and provide a similar result.

Funny because Zumba and Just Dance are STILL near the top of the charts in UK... What harm could DDR do? Seems like a natural fit in England.

Right, cause exercise isn't really exercise unless it's boring and painful.

@MuneBeam Gym teaches don't know the first thing about fitness. They're just egotistical, power tripping idiots.

@Golgo13

I remember a gym teacher I had. 400+ lb black woman.

She could easily beat anyone in the whole school in a game of basketball though. Took on whole teams on her own at times. :P

Can the school systems these days even afford 48 DDR mats? I'd imagine half of them would be fake-playing on arrows taped to the gym floor.

Dammit, where was this when I was in school? Maybe I would've actually given a damn about P.E.

Playing DDR religiously during my last two high school years helped me lose over 50 pounds, but I've since gained it all back. I really should look into buying it for home usage. I used to love those games.

oh its a PC game? fingers crossed its more akin to Stepmania than that dreadful PC version of DDR (with the weird mutant version of the 4th MIX engine and the 'sunglass case' song select wheel....

Nice. Which schools can I go to to see 48 young, fat chicks jumping around in unison?

Nothing new, Konami.

iDance had already done this with up to 32 players, each actively getting their judgements and score.

Go check it out at http://www.idancegame.com/.

Why does every kid need their own DDR mat? If the point of this is just to get the kids to exercise, then why don't they just play a video of the game playing and have the kids exercise to that? Do they really need to keep score? Boom! I just saved every school $1,000.

@MEGATOOL

$1000 isn't a lot for a school, you can raise that easily in a fund raiser.

@GlockXIII Oh, you mean all of the schools that are having budget problems? The ones that are laying off teachers and don't have enough money for books for all of the students? The schools that are being closed down? Yeah, I guess $1,000 isn't that much to them.
