Indie Game: The Movie is leaving the screens of Sundance for the wider world's consumption, and one of its first stops will be at SXSW as an official festival selection. Indie Game: The Movie has been chosen on its value as a film, not being shown as a "Documentary Feature Competition" or a "Documentary Spotlight," but as a "Festival Favorite."
Indie Game was previously part of SXSW's ScreenBurn Arcade series, and directors / everything else James Swirsky and Lisanne Pajot are scheduled to host a panel with Fez's Phil Fish.
SXSW runs from March 9-18 in Austin, Texas, with festival film badges starting at $550 (yes, those are the cheapest) before February 10. This may not be the "public" screening most of us are hoping for, but Indie Game: The Movie will post showings as they come up, such as the Santa Cruz screening it lists now.

This looks quite interesting, actually. Is it only about the creator of Fez, or about indie games in general?
I got to watch the Donkey Kong documentary "A Fistful of Quarters" the other day, and it was amazing! Anyone have any similar game-related documentaries to recommend?

@Pure Black World Tendency It's about the creators of Super Meat Boy, Fez, and Braid. It shows a past, present, future cycle (from what I can tell), where Fez is the future (as his game hasn't been released yet), Super Meat Boy being the present (since it show what happened when they released it), and Braid being the past (since it has been out for a while and Jon Blow just talks about his experiences in making the game). Hope that was understandable and that I could be of help!

G4 did a documentary on the fighting game community, from the perspective of Mike Ross. It's not as good (there's no real Steve vs Billy-esque conflict) but it's still worth a watch, especially if you've ever wondered what all the hype surrounding fighters is about.

Was going to recommend Focus. Not the best documentary, but I enjoyed it. Mike Ross is a great player and just a all around genuine guy in the FGC.

Is it showing at ScreenBurn? In the past, that has been a free event. I supported this movie when it was on Kickstarter - can't wait to see it, but I don't particularly want to buy a $600 SXSW pass! :)
