Following the success of last year's entry, NBA 2K12 has demonstrably done well for Take-Two. Cited as one of the "strongest contributors to net revenue" during the third quarter of Take-Two's fiscal year, NBA 2K12 has managed to ship four million copies to date.
NBA 2K12 has the highest review scores in the history of the franchise -- we were certainly impressed with the title -- and its continued fortune leaves us with one question: will EA be able to snag a healthy slice of the pie when it brings its basketball sim back to market this fall?

I wonder how many PC sales they got. The sports genre is not all that big on PC but I'm glad Take-Two releases it on PC.
$30 for the PC version at Launch is much better than $60 for the Console version. They are both the same exact game as well.

This is the quality of games you get when you allow for competition between franchises. Take note, NFL, when it comes time to renegotiate that deal with EA.

There was no competition though. Hasn't been any since 2009. The NBA 2K Series has only gotten better since then

I purchased it on pc when it was on sale on amazon for 9 bucks, I also own it for 360 bought it the same week for $25, but I do have to say this version was a step backwards compared to 2K11.
I wont go further into detail because then I will drone on.
I am looking forward to what EA has in store after a 2 year hiatus.

I can understand that is shipped 4 Million. But i'm absolutely baffled at how this game got such good reviews, this has got to be one of the most unrealistic and cheap basketball games i've ever played. It makes me wonder if the reviewers ever played or even watched basketball in their lives.

@kvn7918 I agree, the game is loaded with problems - many of which actually got solved through patching in 2k11, which is a head-scratcher.

Despite their problems, I wish 2k would come back to hockey, EA has seriously stagnated in the last few years.

For me, the online structure is even worse than past years. They deleted features like My Player Online Pick-Up games and Crew Mode. The matchmaking system is aweful.
The gameplay is improved though but still has some stuff that needs to iron out like the passing system.

2012 and people play all sorts of games with 100's of players in the same locale.
2K TRIED to let people create a player in their own likeness and join up with others to make a team, to compete against another 5. It was inexcusably bad for 2 years in a row so, in this iteration the scrapped "Crew Games" altogether.
This was the FIRST sports game I've ignored, and continue to do so. Not saying others should not have purchased it, but anyone who DUMPED countless hours only to sit around for HOURS and cant even get into a Crew Game, shouldn't have supported this insult. In the least, bought it new...
As we can see, companies these days get rewarded for not being able to do something right. A simple 5 ON 5, in which we can click the button and be matched up NORMALLY without having to do foolishness, such as change the actual clock on our consoles to a foreign timezone, in hopes of getting matches faster etc...
2K as a company is a joke. I once liked their product but, I can sit around picking my nose in some MMO with tons of other players and they can't provide a menial feature, but chose to omit it instead.
