I find it funny how people like to bash COD for milking their games every year but not say anything about Assassin creed. The gaming community needs to grow up. It pretty hypocritical.

Because these games have enough content to provide interesting and fun single player experiences for 10-15 hours, while CoD has enough content for 6 hours of "BLOW UP ALL THE THINGS UCGCIFJFHDWKFKG BROOOOOO"

I swear to god Activision must be paying people to post this on every AC thread. I see it everywhere, and refuted equally well everywhere, and yet it keeps appearing with slight word-order variations, but these words must always be in it: "bash" "COD" "every year" "but not say anything" "hypocritical".

Because it isn't cool to hate it yet. You always need a grassroots minority to complain about the yearly game, which is already happening for Assassin's Creed, then the movement needs to expand itself on the interwebs, and then the majority will start the "it is cool to hate it thread".

@AnimeGirl16 You need to grow up if you're comparing Assassins Creed games with COD. Yes i think Ubisoft it's milking the cow with the AC games but Revelations (which in my opinion was a disappointment) mops the floor with MW3

There are a couple of reasons why I think people aren't up in arms at yet another Assassin's Creed:

1) It's part of a planned trilogy. Everyone was expecting the announcement of Assassin's Creed 3 this year.

2) Unlike Call of Duty, the Assassin's Creed games give you a real sense of progression through the gameplay AND the story. Each one adds upon the last so much. Every CoD game since CoD4 has been more or less the same.

3) People DO in fact dislike the whoring out of this series. I think Brotherhood got a major pass because it was even BETTER than the already incredible Assassin's Creed 2. However when Revelation's came along there was a pretty big outcry. Much like Modern Warefare 3, not much had changed from the last game aside for some minor gameplay elements.

Also, the entire industry SHOULD get upset at the yearly releases of video games. It dilutes what's special about a game series and gives it nearly zero time to evolve. Hell I'll be the first one to get upset if Ubisoft announces Assassin's Creed 3.1:No Seriously Guys This Is The Last One next year.

Do we need this comment issued out on every fargin' post of AC, or even COD, for that matter. Way to *milk* an age-old whine.

@TRONdll I didn't realize CoD no longer had a multiplayer or coop component...

Yes I know AC has multiplayer now, but this is about different tastes (SPvMP). People who only like one or the other are not going to see the qualities in both. Although as not a huge fan of either game, I can see this becoming a problem for quality and I find yearly releases annoying. If AC has managed to stay strong in the story department, I feel its better then the same rehashed multiplayer for spending money on. But really think you get more hours out of a CoD game.

I find it annoying coming into the comments and seeing posts about CoD sucks, Assassin's Creed is being milked, my console is better than yours, etc. Just shut up, play the damn games you enjoy, and be happy.

How about a few facts:
1: Assassins Creed Revelations was widely panned by critics and fans as being a 'money grab'

2: COD is the best selling game of all time ever.

@AnimeGirl16 In theory, who really cares? If you like the AC series, then this is great news. I for one, never really got into it, but thats not saying it is a bad thing to make good games on a yearly basis. While some may not like COD, I love it, it is my type of game and I like that a new iteration is brought out every year. It is a matter of prefrence really. Besides, if you don't like it, then show that whith your wallet and don't buy it.

@AnimeGirl16 I'd agree with you regarding Assassin's Creed Revelations, which was far too much similar to AC: Brotherhood, which in turn was very similar to AC2 but the new multiplayer functionality helped

The reason AC III is acceptable is because clearly it's taking the adventure to a completely new environment with a cast of entirely new characters, and it's an age that has, as far as I know, never been thoroughly touched upon by an action game. The fact that there's a hatchet and flintlock pistol in his hands is also quite a bit different than Ezio's saga. CoD is unacceptable because of how little it changes from one entry to the next. AC: Revelations was much in that same pattern, but AC3 looks to be a big departure from the last couple games we played.

One thing I think alot of people have forgot, is that Ubisoft had announced that they in fact have been working on AC3 for the past 3 years. The same thing happened with Brotherhood. I think Revelations was kind of an afterthought of Brotherhood. So yes it is another yearly installment, but an installment 3 years in the works.

The cities were crap back then, we might get a whole 3 story building every now and then but most should be just one story.

I dont know what they plan on doing there but it sounds lame, you cant really choose a worse location for an AC game than a city thats only around 100 years old.

My guess is its one location that plays a small part in the game, doing a whole game in colonial america would be horrible.

95% of games are in america. Assassins creed's top selling point (for me anyway) was bringing me to interesting and underused locales. What do they do for part 3? Make him American (native or not, same thing). Thanks for saving me $60/year from now on, Ubisoft.

It isn't set in modern day America. Its the American Revolution. So think the 1700s, when America was VERY different than it is today. How many games have been set in this time period? Very few if any at all (at least that I've heard of). This is a fresh and really creative idea on the developers part and a lot can be explored in this setting that hasn't been explored yet in video games. I don't see what your problem with this is. It would be one thing if it was modern day, but it's like 250 years ago!

I knew all this already, but the American Revolution IS NOT exciting at all and will still feel very American (duh). Can you hinestly say this wouldn't have been better in asia? How many really good realisitic (NOT vs fantasy jumbo demons) ninja games are there out there? AC was screaming to be about ninja assassins. I'm also bothered by the fact that he will be using guns. I can have guns in 90% of games on the market. I want blades in AC.
Oh well

You're kidding, right? What makes you so sure it won't be an interesting setting? Yeah, I agree that somewhere in Asia would have been more interesting, but they have a story to think of. Desmond is American, so it's only obvious that we find out how his lineage got there.
Besides, if it's only the setting you're worried about, fret not. AC is Ubisoft's new cash cow. Even after being through with Desmond's story, you can bet your ass they will continue to make spin-offs, probably with different characters in different eras. Hell, they already have a few characters from the comics.

And don't worry about the guns. Weaponry in the American revolution isn't that much different from what we saw in Brotherhood (as far as I know).

Also this is assassins creed, the game where you run around on tall buildings, the tallest things in this game are going to be the trees.

Why set a city based game in a country which at the time, didn't have any cities? There's no history either, and no culture. I can imagine climbing over huts and running across the prairies in search of something to do is really going to be a thrill.

I was quite keen for a present time AC but I'm quite intrigued by the idea of playing in the American Revolution. I had told myself I was just going to get the major AC release (AC, AC II, AC III) but I think I may get Brotherhood and Revelations now. Cursed marketing.
