Rayman Origins demo out now on Steam
28
We get it -- there are plenty of games out there these days, and maybe with all of the chaos at the end of last year, the great Rayman Origins slipped through your fingers. Maybe this underrated Ubisoft gem didn't quite make your cut. Yes, it made money, but not nearly enough people appreciated the beauty of Rayman's hand-drawn return.
If that's the case, then it's time to fix that little omission. Steam is releasing Rayman Origins on March 29, and there's now a demo available for the low price of completely free. You can also note that Steam preorders will also get a copy of Rayman 2: The Great Escape, so there's yet another reason to get you some of that "goofy, heart-swelling joy."

PS3 is the best version. Xbox is too dark off the bat, Vita has no multi player other than a very limited ghost mode. Why would you be sad that you have the best version? Are you also unhappy that you're in good health?

@VampireEater; Only complaint about the PS3 version is the LPCM audio. I don't have an HDMI input on my older receiver, so all I get is stereo over S/PDIF. 360 version has Dolby 5.1, which while technically worse, is a lot more accessible to most people. Wouldn't have killed Ubisoft to throw in compressed DTS or Dolby on the PS3 version as well.

It's one of the most beautiful games i've ever seen on the vita version. the oled makes the colors pop in a way my hdtv just can't match.

@mrantimatter I wanted to get this game for PS3 thinking my gf would play it with me but she ended up being lame and not enjoying the demo, so instead I got it for Vita. It really is an awesome portable game, as the levels aren't so long that you could beat a few levels while you're out and about if you wanted to. Also, I don't *think* that the console versions have any equivalent to this, but any lums in bubbles or bad guys that need popping can be done so by tapping them on the touch screen which is convenient at times. You can also zoom in/zoom out by 'pinching' the touch screen which is kinda neat.

Then you need a new TV. It looks nice on OLED sure but it also looks the same on my 2 year old Sony TV. Granted that TV cost me a lot but I imagine any modern good TV will have a similar contrast level and brightness without that OLED smudge that shows up on dark stages.
It's also much lower resolution. What is the Vita? 600p? It's 1080p on my setup.

Pre-ordered. I've been wanting this game ever since it first came out -- and it's fantastic that there hasn't been a very large wait in regards to porting it over to other platforms.
Here's what I want: I want this little gem to sell very well on PC, for the sole reason that several people over at Ubisoft might just have to eat their hats. I'm already promoting it like hell to my employed friends and trying to see if I can gift one or two copies to the 'flat-ass broke' ones.

Just show them a video, that was more than enough to get me, anyway i agree with you... I hope we p.c. users can pull a "alan wake" and make this one a top seller just to make ubi eat their own words, and i hope those idiots of I am alive can see that too so they can have a good reason to bitch about it.

The demo showed up in my game library for no reason, I didn't go to download it or anything. Very strange.

I can't say enough good things about this game. One of my all time favorite platformers.
Get it, play couch co-op, and enjoy.

Agreed, the game is so much fun to play with friends, and I'm pretty sure (at least judging from its store page) Rayman will have online co-op on PC, which was my only complaint about it for consoles.
Beautiful game that pulls off being both simplistic and very entertaining (even difficult in certain spots), I can't see anyone not enjoying Rayman.

I've never been a fan of Rayman or 2D platformers in general, but I just downloaded the demo due to all the positive talk I've been hearing. I'll give it a shot, although with ME3 looming on the horizon I don't see myself buying anything else right now

Now THAT is too long of a list to get into on here, hahaha.
Tried the demo and loved the look, but the controls acted wonky on me. It was like every so often a key would get stuck, but since it's a new keyboard then I'd rule that out. Haven't encountered this issue with any other games, Has anyone else had that happen with this demo?

Decent platformer ruined by some of the worst music ever in a video game. Random didgeridoo noises do not make for a pleasant listening experience.

I have a Vita yes and I have this game (only one I have so far).
A small, low res portable screen with its only winning feature being OLED.
Or
A very large, 1080p high-end Sony LED TV.
I'd take the large screen. Even though the Vita is the best portable screen on the gaming market.

If you don't buy Rayman Origins, the terrorists win. I recently introduced several teenage nephews (who had never even heard of Rayman, I don't think) to it. Multiplayer in this game is insanely fun. As on of the boys put it, "It's like Mario, except really fun."

Glad to hear that! There I was thinking all teenagers had turned into cod zombies.
It's good to hear that teenagers dont need to nostalgia of old platformers to enjoy the new ones, and shows there's always going to be room on the market for them!
